Parody Song Title:

"Don't Have a Star Named After Me"

Parody Written by:

Mari Aranoff

Did you know that you can have a star named after your loved one for a special occasion? If you haven't seen the web sites or heard the radio commercials, lucky you! This is a purely fictional story, I hope...
I don't like your new gift idea
For my birthday -- I don't understand at all
Why do you think that it would be romantic
With my name on a great big gassy ball

Online, you saw the blinking pop-ups
Went to the site and fell for packaging
And you misread -- it's not really official
And the cost is way too much for nothing

Don't have a star named after me
Don't spend the 50 bucks -- I'd rather have some lon-ja-ree
Can't you tell that this is something I would not want for free
You should already know I won't want stars being named for me

Oh, I fear
That you've had too many beers
I've given up on any clothes or jewels
But why do you
Have this weird idea that it's cool?
Yet, if I could choose
I'd still prefer those power tools

Don't have a star named after me
Don't spend the 50 bucks -- I'd rather have some lon-ja-ree
Can't you tell that this is something I would not want for free
You should already know I won't want stars being named for me

Don't have that star named after me
I think I'll take a pass on learning fake Astronomy
And "Betelgeuse" is taken anyway, so hear my plea
And just forget the thought of naming any stars after me
There's something new on our MP3 song page (hint: it has something to do with Dangermouse's Grey Album) website

How about an even better scam - sell naming-rights for cubic millimeters of empty space.....now THAT's "money for nothing"! Great job, Mari. 5's

Anyone that has a star named after him or someone else is the biggest schmuck in the world. Canned air, anyone?

This is one of the best ideas I've seen in a while (the song, not the star-naming thing.) Have you heard those commercials? For "only" $54, you could get the one you love a gift that will "show your endless love". What the hell ever happened to a dozen roses and a box of chocolates? Aw hell, anyway, all 5's for you.

I think I'll start selling "Boxes Of Love"-you know..a big box of nothing-with good intentions. :-D GJ Mari!

I'm one of your biggest fans, Mari, and the 'name a star' scam really bugs me - so triple five.

I've got dibs on Aldebaron (or however it's spelled)...

Very clever idea Mari - the Betelgeuse part cracked me up too!
