Song Parodies -> Daniel 2003
| Original Song Title: | "Daniel" |
| Original Performer: | Elton John |
| Parody Song Title: | "Daniel 2003" |
| Parody Written by: | Mari Aranoff |
This parody is dedicated to my 18-year-old stepson Daniel, who will be arriving this weekend for a holiday visit. Last summer, he showed up with a suitcase that felt like a ton of bricks (see below) so that he could bring all of his Japanese anime videos with him. He's talking about doing the same thing this time. And when he sees this, it will be a good thing that he has a sense of humor!
Daniel traveled tonight on a plane
When he carried out his suitcase
It was a major strain, because
His whole computer was packed in there!
And I hope that Daniel
Has lots of padding everywhere
He says that he needs his entire memory
For anime like "Tenchi Muyo" and all of "Dragonball Z"
Oh and, "Gundam Wing" and "Ranma One-Half"
Most are depressing; the last is good for a laugh
Daniel's a good kid, but a little obsessed
He doesn't care about clothes or the way he is dressed
When he comes back, all that he will pack
Is his 80 gigs and a small paper sack
Daniel traveled tonight on a plane
When he carried out his suitcase
It was a major strain
Because his whole computer was packed in there
And I hope that Daniel
Had lots of padding everywhere
Oh God I hope that Daniel has lots of padding everywhere
When he carried out his suitcase
It was a major strain, because
His whole computer was packed in there!
And I hope that Daniel
Has lots of padding everywhere
He says that he needs his entire memory
For anime like "Tenchi Muyo" and all of "Dragonball Z"
Oh and, "Gundam Wing" and "Ranma One-Half"
Most are depressing; the last is good for a laugh
Daniel's a good kid, but a little obsessed
He doesn't care about clothes or the way he is dressed
When he comes back, all that he will pack

Daniel traveled tonight on a plane

It was a major strain
Because his whole computer was packed in there
And I hope that Daniel
Had lots of padding everywhere
Oh God I hope that Daniel has lots of padding everywhere

Mari and Rick- I just went to your MP3 site where you have your Amiright Tribute MP3 posted for listening - I played it, and it IS HYSTERICAL !! Y'all did a great job with it, it's so much fun to listen to! I'm surely going to be sharing that link with family and friends.....and the fact that you included some excerpts from my parody "Tights I'm Quite Fat In" (my parody of the Moody Blues' most famous tune, "Nights In White Satin") is a special treat - thanks for the honor!
You're welcome. Maybe you can get some of them to go on and vote for us a few times. (hint hint) We notice we ain't in the top ten.
Rick - Mari, I'm listening to the rest of the songs out there right now. I tried to sign up on the site but I have not received my activation code in my email yet and it has been about 45 minutes. Would you all take a look at this.
I have never heard one of my songs sung before. I can't describe how that feels. It was really nice. Thank you all very much. I for sure enjoyed it. That is a really nice thing you two did with the tribute to ten of Amiright's authors. The Amiright tribute is really great. I have read all of these songs and now I get to hear them. You guys did a bang up job on that MP3. Your site looks promising. And thanks again.

Rick and Mari - I have just returned from voting your Amiright Tribute as "hot", and I also posted on your message board as well.
Come on, you 9 other lucky parody authors! Get your kiesters over to RAD and MAD's MP3 site, vote 'em "hot" and post 'em a good word - it's the least we can do!

Done and done - what Guy and Johnny said.
Mari D - OH OH, I strayed onto the main "Comment" section and I'm STILL here (1 hour, 10 minutes - at least I'm keeping track tonight). Good parody and I recognize myself in it all too well. Everything BUT the computer, never know what you might need (even though you generally never do need it). I don't travel too often so overpacking when I do isn't that big a deal. It does get cumbersome dragging all around airports, though. Gonna try that MP3 site link now.
Mari D - I'm thrilled to be on your MP3 site but I can't access it tonight because, and I know you'll have a hard time believing this, I have too much CRAP on my hard drive and it won't fit. Can't clean it out tonight, have reached the 2 hour mark on my "quick drop in" and any longer and I will reach the "3 or 4 hour" mark I was ridiculing myself over earlier, and that's too much even for me. I may drop in tomorrow and clear out enough Drive space to download the soundplayer. I really want to hear it. Or maybe my friend Larry here has enough space on his. He's not a pack-rat of the same magnitude so that's a possibility. Well, again, I'm thrilled and honored. Am REALLY going home now, honest. G'nite all.
That Amiright medley is grrrrreat. You really oughta submit it as a "Comedy Song Performance" on THIS site.
Thanks, all! Spaff -- I really appreciate that, coming from you, since you have done some great recordings! I have tried to submit an MP3 link the way that you suggested, but nothing has happened yet.
Mari - email me at spaff@spaff.com and I'll try to coach you through it
The tribute mp3 is in the submission queue... I haven't been home long enough to respond to your email. I haven't been approving recordings that are on sites which require registration to listen to songs. I think though, that if I want to encourage more submissions I'll just need to put a comment on them when they require registration to listen to.
Mari D & Rick D - Got my CD from friend Larry, glad it had all 10 tributes (+ he put "Jenny Craig" on it too, an excellent job with "Penny Lane", I might add.); Loved them all, fantastic job. Really a kick to hear you do mine, I wish it hadn't taken me so long to finally hear it, but better late than never. The office is closed today but I came in to let you know I heard it and to make sure I had voted on all other nine of the songs because they are all great. I know I caught most of them already but also know there were a few I had missed and thank you immensely for spotlighting them. Let's see; ummm...ok, Merry Christmas to you and to everyone out there. I probably won't be posting any new parodies until after the new year, what with some of the changes going on for me...UNLESS something pops into my head virtually 100% written...could happen. I'm really looking forward to seeing both of you play and hopefully Leah, too on my way up North on the 8th. Well, I'm going to scan the "Comments" section and try not to get hung up and then I'm outta here for a couple days.
