I'VE STOPPED DRINKING

I was drinking from an early age,
My friends were too as it was all the rage.
And I would drink in our bar the whole night through,
But then staggering back to home I found was hard to do.

I soon found that I was getting worse,
The whole of my life was going in reverse.
The doc said if I didn't stop then I would die.
So if you want to know what I decided, I just had to try...

And now you see I've stopped drinking any type of alcohol.
Though at first it wasn't easy, now I'm really on a roll.
I've stopped drinking and I'm feeling good,
People said I wouldn't keep it going but I knew I could.

My old man was nearly always drunk,
I couldn't blame Mother when she did a bunk.
Then left on my own I found the bottle too,
It was there that I found some refuge, but then the habit grew.
