The Lyrics

Well, better late than never, I guess. This whole thing just burst into my head yesterday almost fully formed. Which is funny, because I don't harbor much hostility to Peyton Manning. He only bugs me a little bit
Peyton blows the first snap like a clown
They called this muff grievous
Cause it looked so lame
Was the QB of the finest O in town
Peyton, Peyton likes his checkoffs
He makes a lot they say
Had his plays stolen
By the Seahawks in a devious way

He was born an offspring to a pro
In New Orleans town where The Picayune said Saints were dead
And the bags were on*
Archie Manning has a son today

And he shall be Peyton
And he shall be a good man
And he shall be Peyton
In tradition with the Manning clan
And he shall be Peyton
And he shall be a good man
He. Shall. Be. Peyton

Peyton blows consecutive third downs
The Seahawks fortune thrives
Sherman blows up the schemes all day
Sits on the corner stopping deep flys#
And Peyton he wants to score a TD
Broncos falling far behind
Sends up a duck, Bronc hopes fading
While Malcolm takes it to goal line

He was key to record setting O
In the modern game when New York Times said D was dead
Now the rout's begun
Denver Broncos have a bum today

And he shall be Peyton
And he shall be a bum, man
And he shall be Peyton
Takes derision in the Manning clan (Ha!)
And he shall be Peyton
And he shall be a bum, man
He. Shall. Be. Peyton

And he shall be Peyton
And he shall be a glum man
And he shall be Peyton
Repositioned in the Manning clan (Oooh!)*
And he shall be Peyton
And he shall be a glum man
He. Shall. Be. Peyton
*When Archie Manning (Peyton's father) played for the Saints, they were so relentlessly bad, that Saints fans started the tradition of wearing bags on their heads. #A deep fly is a pass pattern where the receiver goes straight down the field and tries to beat his defender on sheer speed alone ..... #ie, Eli Manning is definitely the top dog in the Manning family now

In spite of what Goodell's trying to do, defense is still alive and well!

I remember well those fans with bags saying "AINTS" over their heads at the Louisiana Blooperdome. I'll bet Eli didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
