The Lyrics

I wake up early in the morn,
starin' at the ceilin' in my dorm,
drinkin' coffee and warm beer,
Have a final to take and a check to clear,
but I really gotta say this much
Life is a lotta rot and such,
While everyone else is rich and happy,
here I lay in bed, feelin' nappy.

Well, Life is rotten, ain't it shockin',
when your day just goes to hell?
I never imagined a worse time,
and I guess it's just as well.
Oh Lawdy Lawdy, those Friday nights,
crown and coke, head spinnin' light.
and the awful feelin that life ain't right.

But the semester flew by and my grades just fell,
oh dear Gawd, this damn school is hell.
Long nights drinkin' ole Jim Beam,
dreamin' of riches and the music scene.
But I still have 3 more years,
of hard studyin', toilin', and bloody tears,
Dreamin' of a wonderful life far away,
really really wishin' I lived it today.

Well, Life is rotten, ain't it shockin',
when your day just goes to hell?
I never imagined a worse time,
and I guess it's just as well.
Oh Lawdy Lawdy, those Friday nights,
crown and coke, head spinnin' light.
and the awful feelin that life ain't right.

I wake up early in the morn,
starin' at the ceilin' in my dorm,
drinkin' coffee and warm beer,
Have a final to take and a check to clear,
but I really gotta say this much
Life is a lotta rot and such,
While everyone else is rich and happy,
here I lay in bed, feelin' nappy.

Well, Life is rotten, ain't it shockin',
when your day just goes to hell?
I never imagined a worse time,
and I guess it's just as well.
Oh Lawdy Lawdy, those Friday nights,
crown and coke, head spinnin' light.
and the awful feelin that life ain't right.
