| Parody Song Title: | "Old Tube Radio" |
| Parody Written by: | Susanna Viljanen |
Look out there, in corner, there is an old radio
It's so dusty, faded as it can be
I can still remember listening to that radio
All the stations were so dear to me -
We were haughty as we had our own radio
Tubes, they glowed so hot and spooky green -
and even loudspeaker once did break in two in frost
but that would mean nothing as we-
- had own radio -
woa-hoo, so fine radio
woa-hoo, old tube radio
woa-hoo, our own radio
'Twas so fine, it played the stations both near and far
It would play so loud when you'd adjust the bar
Tubes, they did glow and they did produce happiness -
Lots of kilocycles, nonetheless
Woa-hoo-hoo-hoo-
And our old grandpa, he no more go fish to lakes -
He's afraid of all those radio waves -
No, that old man, he really has no idea
what a - -marvel is that tube radio
woa-hoo, so fine radio
woa-hoo, old tube radio
woa-hoo, our own radio
Granny thought "there must be someone inside that thing" -
yes, someone who'd speak and read and sing
And we all laughed so hard we had tears in our eyes
poor old granny would not realize -
Woa-hoo-hoo-hoo-
But then it was on politics and not rock and roll
That did make our father's blood to boil
Daddy took that thingy on the boat and went to sea -
and threw it - overboard - whee! -
- Oh, our radio!
woa-hoo, so fine radio
woa-hoo, old tube radio
woa-hoo, our own radio...
It's so dusty, faded as it can be
I can still remember listening to that radio

I expect the iPod generation is wondering what the heck a "tube" is. ... there's a knowledge vacuum lol. Clever switch -- or knob -- or dial. AM 555 kHz.
