Song Parodies -> "Face Oddity"

Original Song Title:

"Space Oddity / Major Tom"

Original Performer:

David Bowie

Parody Song Title:

"Face Oddity"

Parody Written by:

The Comedian

The Lyrics

Frown Control to Surgeon Tom
Frown Control to Surgeon Tom
Scrub your forearms and put your latex gloves on
Frown Control to Surgeon Tom
Injecting bo-tox, wrinkles gone
Start incision, and may no patient sue you

This is Frown Control to Surgeon Tom
You've really made the grade!
And the tabloids want to know just where you park
Now it's time to lift the face of old Dick Clark

This is Surgeon Tom to Frown Control
I'm stretching Dick's face more
But it's bloating in a most peculiar way
Now this star looks very different today

For here...am I gloating as a rich man
Cars I love, and girls
Janet's dress was blue - but Reno's face needed glue

Though I've patched one hundred thousand smiles
Things were just fine until
This guy's face-lift seems to know which way to go
And the knife I love so very much -
It blows!

Frown Control to Surgeon Tom
On Dick Clark's face, there's something wrong
Can you fix it, Surgeon Tom?
Can you fix it, Surgeon Tom?
Can you fix it, Surgeon Tom?
Can you...

Seems...Dick Clark made a deal with Satan
Signed away his soul
So he could stay young
Now his contract's term is done

A very uplifting parody, Johnny. One of the best plastic surgery videos I ever saw was Mark Lowery's parody of Michael W. Smith's "My Place In This World", aptly titled "My Face In This World". In the end, the doctors unwrap Mark's bandages, and he looks like Michael W (who plays the part himself). LOL

Another botox laughathon. Very good indeed.
sloatead - January 16, 2004 - Report this comment
good one, i'll send you the bill for the surgery to get rid of these laugh lines

Spooky, unnatural face. Goes along with the music. :D 5's

Awesome job!!!!!

Thank you, David, Laurence, sloatead, and Adagio.

My wife and I have an ongoing joke that Dick Clark's face never ages because he MADWTD - we joke that he actually looks younger than his son.

Thank you, Jack!

I love the "Frown Control to Surgeon Tom." Very clever and some good lines. But just a little shot of this should make those lines less visible....

You lost no face on this one JD. Well done.

ROFLMAO. And YES. I VOTED ;-) Great job, superb song choice.

Way to go! This subject should be the subject of a parody! I like your choice of song; it really works. For some reason it reminds me of the Digital Underground's "No Nose Job" from about 15 years ago.
Peregrin - January 16, 2004 - Report this comment
"stretching Dick’s face" ? Yee-ouchee!
Paul Robinson - January 16, 2004 - Report this comment
Johnny D - It's not a stretch to say this was a marvelous job. Can't decide which botoxian tale posted today is the best, yours or Jan Unwin's...I would need to bigger face to have a wider grin than I've got right now. I weigh it and say it: "A Tie", Oh my...Trivia item: Dick Clark used to come into our Car Wash in North Hollywood in the early-mid 1970's. He looks the same today as he did then (and at THAT time we were commenting that he didn't look as old as he should have), got to be a DWTD thing - no other explanation.

4-4-4 Certainly not your best work...but still inventive.
Johnny D - January 16, 2004 - Report this comment
Thank you, Leah, Mari D, Peregrin, Paul, and Jude!

Leah: thanks, I like "Space Oddity" by David Bowie, it has a crisp structure.

Mari D: Yeah, I think this subject is ripe for a good mocking, too! Please, Mari - tell me more about "No Nose Job" - you have me intrigued...

Peregrin: Ah-HA! You said "Yee-ouchee!" - do you exclaim from personal physiological experience? (Note to self: expect humorously-evasive answer to this inquiry!)

Paul: Wow!! Did you ever wash Dick's dip-stick?

Jude: Thanks, I also think it's rather inventive - and I take your comment of "not your best work" as a definite sideways compliment - thank you very much!
Paul Robinson - January 16, 2004 - Report this comment
Johnny D - No, was never privy to view or cleanse the DC's dip-rod in lo those many years of Car Washery. And so I cannot give a definitive answer either on the question of whether or how said rod would show signs of aging. Even though inquiring minds would be interested. However, in those days even most "celebrity" types would bring their own vehicles in for cleaning or repair work or whatever. Today they most likely send an "associate" (flunky). I just saw a couple of minutes on "Puffy" Comb's "personal assistant" or some such nonsense, explaining how important it was to order 30 pair of expensive sunglasses at a time because the "Puffster" was just too busy and important too remember not to leave them wherever he just was and just MUST always look a certain way. This guy spends all his time doing this crap and probably makes significantly more annual income than say, teachers, or whatever. Oops! Off the soap box with me, OHHHH....now I've fallen and I can't get up. See what you zippersnappers have done? Moving on....

Johnny, Here's a lyric link to "No Nose Job" --http://www.elyrics.net/go/d/Digital_Underground/No_Nose_Job/ Digital Underground was popular in the late 80s and early 90s. Their "lead singer" called himself Humpty and wore a black version of one of those "groucho nose/glasses." "No Nose Job" makes fun of plastic surgery in general, and was perceived as a slam on Michael Jackson. The video was pretty funny. Unlike most rap/hip hop groups, DU had a sense of humor. Their lyrics also dealt with a lot of sex, which I'm sure you would find offensive (ha ha).

Paul: Thanks for the story about Puffy's gopher! What a job to have, eh? Yikes!

Mari D: Thanks for the link - funny, funny stuff there! Whacked-out lyrics, too: "You fakehaircontactwearinliposuction carnival exhibit / Listen to my rhyme, you need to hear it" ...... Now THAT's rappin' !

Johnny D - January 18, 2004 - Report this comment
Thanks Claude and Tim! Michael Jackson has been parodied ad infinitum on Amiright ...... so why not take a few plastic-surgery-parody-scalpel-swings at ol' Dick Clark for a change of face-er, I mean, pace ?
mac195 - January 25, 2004 - Report this comment
Funny stuff... but now that Dick Clark has been done, I think we need a song about sucking the fat off Michael Moore.
