Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Just a reminiscence about better days, from a longtime Mets fan
What a catch Swoboda made,
The defense Hernandez played,
Before megabucks were paid,
Those were the days.
When Tom Seaver took the hill,
All opponents felt a chill,
He kept their run totals nil,
Those were the days.
And you knew where you were then.
Tug or Jesse in the pen.
Mister we could use an arm like Jerry Koosman's again.
Straw and Gary going long,
Doc, Sid, Bobby, throwing strong,
No Mets pictured with a bong,
Thooooose Weeeeerrrrreeeeee Theeeeee Daaaaaaaaays!

Good work.

Like the Mets, this was awful. Unlike the Mets, this was not funny. In the words of the immortal Casey Stengel, "Can't anybody here play this game?"

The '69 Mets were Amazing. The '73 Mets were good, and it was all downhill from there.
