The Lyrics

Well, I patrolled my city tonight
Surveying people from a great height
I'm not scared; I think I've mastered my fears...
Haven't seen my loving parents in years

Clay-face to the left of me!
Joker's to the right!
Here I amFighting a war I will loose...

Yes, I'm Fighting a war I will loose...
It's not fun, but it's the path that I choose
Dodging bullets, I stare right into his face
Punch his jaw, and then I resume my chase.

Penguin's to the left of me!
Harley's to the right!
Fighting a war I will loose

In Crime Alley they were taken
and now you've gone from boy-to-man
yeah
And you visit by their gravesite
Wanting their approval, pleading
"Please . . ."
"Please . . ."

And I travel far and wide for my skills
Never wanting to make any kills
Is it wrong to live my life in a cave?
That's not how normal people behave.

Grundy's to the left of me!
Two-Face to the right!
Fighting a war I will loose...

Fighting a war
Fighting a war

Ra's to the left of me!
Firefly to the right!
Scarface to the left of me!
Hatter's to the right! (Fighting a war)
Freeze to the left of me!
Zsasz to the right! (Fighting a war)
Talia to the left of me!
Riddler to the right! (uh-uh)
Black Mask to the left of me!
Ubu to the right!
Here I amFighting a war I will loose

In Crime Alley they were taken
and now you've gone from boy-to-man
yeah
And you visit by their gravesite
Wanting their approval, pleading
"Please . . ."
"Please . . ."

And I travel far and wide for my skills
Never wanting to make any kills
Is it wrong to live my life in a cave?
That's not how normal people behave.

Ivy's to the left of me!
Bane's to the right!
Here I'mFighting a war I will loose
Fighting a war I will loose (ah-yeah)
Fighting a war I will loose
I'm the night!
Fighting a war I will loose
Will loose, will loose, will loose ....

I hate to mess up a good superhero parody (a really good one, in fact), but the original was by Stealer's Wheel, whose lead singer Gerry Rafferty later did "Baker Street." It wasn't by Dylan. Of course, if Dylan were a Bat-villain, he'd be the Riddler. (Even if Don McLean called him "the jester" in "American Pie," that doesn't make him the Joker.)

one 4 was gonna creep in...but then, anybody who can call up all those great Bat Villians of old deserves 555! Firefly...what a loser!
