Song Parodies -> Ice Road Truckers
| Original Song Title: | "Crazy Train" |
| Original Performer: | Black Sabbath |
| Parody Song Title: | "Ice Road Truckers" |
| Parody Written by: | Dylan Baranski |
One of my aims in parody writing has been to write parodies on topics that hardly anyone else would think about writing parodies about, and this parody is no exception. Every winter up in the Northwest Territories of Canada, near Yellowknife, it gets very cold & the lakes freeze with a thick sheet of ice covering them. Sometime after World War 2, Canadian Mountie John Denison had the idea of driving big rigs over the frozen lakes in order to reach previously unreachable deposits of gold & other valuable minerals. Why trucks? Because it was (and still is) more cost-effective that using aircraft. Eventually, through trial & error, he laid down the rules & techniques for ice road trucking & was awarded the Order of Canada for his work. This parody is a tribute to the ice road truckers of the past, present, & future. Enjoy the parody
ALL ABOARD!!!!!!!
HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!
Ay! (echoes)
Crazy, but they do their job.
Up in the Great North, far from the mob,
There is a group of people
Who drive trucks on ice, with heavy loads they pull.
Their job’s full of peril,
Some say they’re insane.
They’re risking all their lives on the icy roads. (X2)
(Let’s roll!)
Way back in the old days, this guy made some rules
For driving on ice roads, using the right tools.
They once searched for radium, and soon switched to gold,
Now they mine for diamonds, way out in the cold. (1)
Their job is a death trap,
But it’s got huge gains.
They’re risking all their lives on the icy roads. (X2)
They know that this job is real dangerous,
But they are careful, nonetheless.
Yeah!
Yeah!
[hard-rockin’ guitar solo]
Heroes of folklore, that’s what they’ll become.
Canadian heroes, their diesels still hum.
Going where no one would dare,
They’re living with danger, but they’re well prepared.
Their job’s full of peril,
But it’s brought them fame.
They’re risking all their lives on the icy roads. (X2)

In memory of John Denison, 1917-2001.
Cultural Notes:
1-Even before Ice road trucking, people used to pull sleds across the frozen lakes & mine for radium. Eventually, the mining operations were focused on gold, and nowadays they are concerned with diamonds.
NOTICE: I've posted this before, but I think I'll post it a couple more times. I apologize for not being able to submit parodies to this website on a regular basis. In addition to writing parodies, I'm also concerned with building models, reading books, video games, and such. Thus, I am a busy man. Also, I just started college on today (at the time of this writing), so you can see where this is going. However, I love this website & I applaud ChuckyG for making a website where I can submit song parodies & other musical info & see what others have submitted. Keep up the good work, you guys! Long live AmIRight.com!!!!!!!

I can understand why some people -- other than myself -- would watch that show. What I don't understand is why it's on the History Channel. Why not the Discovery or National Geographic Channel, or PBS? There's not much historical about it.
Very well done
Great parody! Great show!
Kinda reminded me of the song Todd sang in the bar! :-O
??? I thought "Crazy Train" was by Ozzy Ozzbpurne...
While I do find this amusing, Deadliest Catch is far better than Ice Road Truckers.
