| Original Song Title: | "Me & Mrs. Jones" |
| Original Performer: | Billy Paul |
| Parody Song Title: | "Me & Chipper Jones" |
| Parody Written by: | Arcade Junkie |
This is a tribute to my favorite Atlanta Braves pitcher.
Me & Chipper Jones, we got a thing going on
I know I proved him wrong, but it's much too strong to let it go now
Each day I turn, to the Braves game, 6:30, and I know, I know he'll be there
Holding mitts, making final plans, while the TV flashes their teams, their teams scores
Me...&...Chipper, Chipper Jones, Chipper Jones, Chipper Jones, Chipper Jones
We got a thing going on
I know I proved him wrong, but it's much too strong to let it go now
He has to be extra careful, because this visitor's player stats are high
Cause's he got's himself a sinking fastball, and he struck him out on an 0-2 pitch and winked his eye
Me...&...Chipper, Chipper Jones, Chipper Jones, Chipper Jones, Chipper Jones
We got a thing goin' on
I know I proved him wrong, but it's much too strong to let it go now
Well, it's time for a pitching change
And it hurts so much, hurts so much inside
Now John Smoltz does the same way, Chipper does mine
But tomorrow the Braves will play at the same time
Me...&...Chipper, Chipper Jones, Chipper Jones, Chipper Jones, Chipper Jones
We...got...a...thing goin' on
I know I proved him wrong, but it's much too strong to let it go now
Each day I turn, to the Braves game, 6:30, and I know, I know he'll be there
Holding mitts, making final plans, while the TV flashes their teams, their teams scores

I don't know this song, but just to point it out, Chipper Jones is not a pitcher, as it says in the top comment. He's an infielder-turned-outfielder. Might have been a mistake, but whether or not saying "pitcher" was an accident, I'm pointing it out.
At the rate Atlanta is going, Chipper might not be a Brave much longer. Which is probably for the best, since he'd probably like to WIN a postseason series every now and then. If you think the Atlanta Braves winning nine straight divisional championships is a great accomplishment (and it is nine, not 12, since Montreal won the NL East in '94)...you might be a redneck.
The Expos did lead the NL East in '94 when the strike occurred, but their supposed division title does not count because the postseason was never played that year.
