The Lyrics

It seems that every election cycle where Democrats win the White House everything is sunshine and lollipops, but if a Republican dares to win, then there is something systemically wrong with AmeriKKKa and things had better change. To help facilitate this change is the National Popular Vote Movement, or so I'm told.
Got a call from an old friend
We used to be real close
Said he just couldn’t take the American way
Said the vote wasn’t fair
See, my friend lives on the West Coast
Now he whines, popular vote, all night and day

I don't need you to tell me we’ll get ‘em in four years
I don't want you to tell me it's time to calm down
I don't care what you say anymore, cause I’m through here
Gonna’ join up the National Popular Vote

I never thought I’d ever have to say “President Trump”
And now I’m feeling that America’s a toxic dump
I don’t belong, this crap is wrong
If he can win the vote
It must be a crime

They will tell you bla bla, Republic,
Constitution
They’ll explain about safeguards
And some other crap
They will say it’s the American
Institution
Them’s the rules? I won’t play!
You can all F’ yourselves

I don't need you to tell me we’ll get ‘em in four years
I don't want you to tell me it's time to calm down
I don't care what you say anymore, cause I’m through here
Gonna’ join up the National Popular Vote

It never crossed my mind that Hillary could ever lose
And now I sit here and I wonder what can I do
I’ll beat the throng that got it wrong
By changing up the rules
To favor my guy

(musical interlude)

I don't care what you say anymore, cause I’m through here
Gonna’ join up the National Popular Vote

Rob, don't you mean "YUGE?!" and yeah Onslaught, I agree 100% with your opening comment. It's funny how the left tries to preach that the right is the side of hate & violence... by rioting and causing destruction... huh... 5s

I think the thing this time is because of Trump's inherent unacceptability for the presidency to a lot of people, not just because of him being with the Republican party. I don't think this happened with George W Bush at the time, as it was before he was awful later on. In any case, although about 10 states and DC have gone for it, it's doubtful it'll earn enough states for it to take effect. As I've said before, I'm neutral on it. I just wish that Trump wasn't the Republican candidate (who are these Republican primary voters?)

"Saturday Night Live" actually got it right last week. In a segment on "Weekend Update", Colin Jost reported that some social media site was now offering a choice of "58 Genders", adding, "And that's why Donald Trump" was just elected President". A considerable portion of the electorate is tired of being forced to take a back seat to a band of weirdos who can't decide whether they are men or women, and the politicians who pander to them. Maybe things weren't really better in the "good old days", but they sure aren't all that great now.

I think this was thoughtfully written, but the pacing was off in a lot of places, so it was difficult to follow along with the original. But I think you summed up many of the dem's contradictory opinions concerning the popular vote and electoral college.
