The Lyrics

Apparently, nothing is enough for 2016. First we've lost David Bowie, then we lost Glenn Frey, then Prince...and now her. I understand that everybody has to pass on eventually, but that doesn't make it any easier. Rather than crying about Carrie Fisher's passing, however, I decided to write a parody about it. Enjoy the parody, and may she always be in our hearts!
Carrie was a bookworm when she saw her first motion pic.
No one knows just what it was, but that movie, it made her tick.
Daughter of an actress, she swore that she’d make it big.
Then she just dropped outta her high school, started searching for a gig.
Don’t ya know?

Carrie told her mama, hey, “Mama, I bid thee adieu.
I’m gonna hit the big screen, gonna be a big star like you.”
Mama kept thinking back to that warm October day.
It was a long time ago in a place far, far away.
Don’t ya know?
Yeah yeah!

Don’t you know that you are a movie star?
Don’t you know?
Don’t you know?
Don’t you know that you are a movie star?
And all the world will love you just as long…
As long as you are.

Carrie did some movies, and she made it in due course.
Suddenly everyone loved to see her use The Force.
Battled addiction and bipolar disorder too.
Carrie looked around her and said, “Well, I guess I’ve made it through.”
Don’t ya know?
Don’t ya know?

Don’t you know that you are a movie star?
Don’t you know?
Oh yeah!
Don’t you know that you are a movie star, yeah?
And all the world will love you just as long…
As long as you are…
A movie star!

[guitar solo]

Don’t you know that you are a movie star?
Don’t you know?
Ah ah!
Don’t you know that you are a movie star now?
And all the world will love you just as long…
As long as you are.

Carrie died one night, died in her bed.
Heart attack, the news media, they had said.
Carrie’s life passed us by like the sun’s golden rays.
Alec Guinness and The Force, they will be with her always.
Don’t ya know?
Oh oh!

Don’t you know that you are a movie star?
Don’t you know?
Don’t you know?
Don’t you know that you are a movie star?
Don’t you know?
Don’t you know that you are a movie star?
Don’t you, don’t you, don’t you, don’t you, don’t you know?
Don’t you know-oh-oh that you are a movie star, yeah?
Oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh oh oh!
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh!
Whoo!
Don’t you, don’t you know that you are a movie star?
Don’t you, don’t you know?
Know know know know?
Know know know know know know know know know know know know know know!
Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na!
Whoo!
Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na…
