Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Love Story - Dogs are Man's Best Friend"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Dogs are man's best friend
An allegory of how friendship ought to be
An old companion that's the gist of loyalty
That's always been the story throughout history
He grants your wish

Hug a Samoyed
He fills your arms with warmth and silky fragrant fur
His smiley face imploring, looking so sincere
He is a loving, living natural Teddy bear
I fill his dish

I fill his dish with bags of doggie chow
He wolfs it down and then he licks my brow
He breaks the bank, I don't give a damn
That precious soul is worth every penny
Everywhere I go he's always with me
People envy us, they start to stare

Life without a dog
I can't imagine life if dogs did not exist
Those longing glances show what other people miss
When I hug him and I get a doggie kiss
They long to share

Your dog is your friend
Your love is measured by the love you give to them
They are more worthy than a lifeless precious gem
The wife, the kids and dog make everybody's home
A three fold cord

Straight "K 9s" for this puppy love! ;D

555 licks from man's best friend!

Thanks, Old Man and Mark - dogs give you love when you keep them healthy. Judging from the lyrics the OS seems so "me" centered, but love has to go both ways.

Awwwwwww!! A few bumps in pacing during the sing-along, so scored a 454. My shelties enjoyed it immensely, though, and gave it two enthusiastic paws up! ;)

Thanks, Fiddle - Shelties are such pretty little dogs.

This parody is certainly no dog..

Excellent job here 2Eagle, and Samoyeds are one of my favorite dog breeds. Very friendly, soft, cuddly and very desiring of human company: what's not to like? I'm also a sucker for Andy Williams songs. 5s.

DKTOS but I'm sure this is much better than the original. Ruff ruff ruff ruff ruff!

Hmmmmm... fragrant is not a word I want to associate with dogs - most dogs I've met are waaaaay too fragrant for my taste. Nice parody tho'.

Thanks, AFW - I write odes to pooches every Valentines' Day when the Westminster Kennel Club has its Annual show. Thanks, Andria - Samoyeds are my favorite, too. Thanks, Phil - weren't you around when Love Story was released? Thanks, Meriacat - I know somebody who had Samoyeds and they smelled nice. When you are around dogs their scent is music to your nose.

Same vote as FG, for the same reason, but another fine "ruff" on OS (he heh heh!)

When you get that doggie kiss, do you know where that tongue was two minutes ago? (can't remember which comedian first pointed that out, but it grosses me out.) Still, a very expressive write, artistically.

Thanks, NiceTT -That sounds like Bill Cosby. However, most dog parents kiss their dogs on the mouth.

2Eagle- No, I'm only 27.

Thanks again, Phil - I thought so. That song was played to death in the '70's. Thanks, LilPup - The same could be said for horses. Too bad you cant have them in the city.
