Song Parodies -> Felix The Cat
| Original Song Title: | "Year Of The Cat" |
| Original Performer: | Al Stewart |
| Parody Song Title: | "Felix The Cat" |
| Parody Written by: | Alvin Rhodes |
in the morning, there's some bogus toonies
they were funnier way back in time
you'd be laughing right out loud...at all the stories
but the fare's now a crime
they come out really dumb with some lame jokes running
and the image wallows in your brain
don't bother looking at animations
lest the era which they came...
is "felix the cat"
the drawing's really fine...no question
and you'll crack up as gags occur
and you'll holler till your heart is palpitating
a pitter-pat is near
the professor calls and rock bottom brawls
its the magic bag, they're driven to
pointdexter says, "this is my style"
the master cylinder rolls through
its "felix the cat"
well, he always acts so coolly
he's a feline who's as smooth as can be
his life is intense and unruly
he's no faker..we find he's wholesome inside
he's "felix the cat"
when the morning comes, i tune the picture
and there's just one thing, i want on
its the only valid choice...and so i pick it
because i'm quite fond
then that ol' refrain
of the theme song came
and i dig it as i do each day
you know some toons should run forever
and i hope that this one stays
its "felix the cat"
they were funnier way back in time
you'd be laughing right out loud...at all the stories

Felixitations. Fives.
thanks john
I'm not usually such a fives-slinger, but this was truly sincere. Even though I never really enjoyed Felix the Cat, I enjoyed this parody. I'm more of a Bugs Bunny kid myself, if we're talking old stuff. Alvin, don't tell me you were born yet when Felix was new (I just 'wiki'd up that the version with Master Cylinder and Rock Bottom and the like was the 1950s version).
thanks rooster...felix made his debut in 1919...i wasn't around till '55 i really do enjoy old stuff like felix, popeye and betty boop, though
DKTOS, but I trust your pacing. 555, looks very good.
thanks stephen
I'm with you, I like the old cartoons, too...I choose Felix over Garfield, anyday...good job on this..555
thanks AFW
Nice job, alvin...and it brings up old memories for me...which, as you know quite well by now, can be a dangerous thing, word-count wise...5's ~ ~ ~
thanks paul
You're right Alvin. Cartoons just aren't what they used to be.
thanks PMS
