Song Parodies -> Ear Of The Cat
| Original Song Title: | "Year Of The Cat" |
| Original Performer: | Al Stewart |
| Parody Song Title: | "Ear Of The Cat" |
| Parody Written by: | Johnny D |
From a warm and sunny windowsill-sleep
Wakes a groggy and aloof feline
Who goes strolling through the house
Like
Martha Stewart
Contemplating a wine
She comes out of the sun
In her fur dress
Stun-ning as a tiger lily in the rain
Don't bother speaking
No hu-man words can
Penetrate the great disdain...
...of the ear of the cat...
She's proud and pays no mind to questions
As she jumps in your lap and purrs
And you swallow pride and sense she wants affection
You scratch behind her ears
By the french window near the patio
There's a kitten-door that's just for her
She flails her tail, and, dashes out
To chase a mouse she overheard...
...with the ear of the cat...
( --- guitar instrumental --- )
Well she looks at you so coolly
And her eyes shine like cats-eye crystal beads
She washes her-self
No bath she needs
The vet takes her to find
What's waiting inside...
...the ear of the cat...
( --- guitar instrumental --- )
Well morning comes and she's still with you
And the mouse and all the birds are gone
And you've thrown away your voice, and, up you pick her
Silently she purrs on
When a humming sound from the kitchen pounds
On her ear-drums as you open cans
She runs excited, bounding to you
As your tuna-music lands...
...on the ear of the cat...
Wakes a groggy and aloof feline
Who goes strolling through the house
Like

Ya gotta love cats.
Great, great job on a cool tune. Have you always rhymed with the OS this consistently? I've been noticing it on your work only very recently, maybe only because I'm trying to do that a bit more myself now.
I had to think about the tune of this, it's been a while since I heard this song, but your parody is very artfully done.
fine lines about felines...fives
hu-man? Oh, I see, the song's being sung by a Ferengi...great work.
John, Leo, Royce, Alvin, Rex - thank you all very much!
Leo - I've started trying to do so more and more in the past six months or so...the masters of rhyming-to-the-corresponding-syllables-of-the-original-song are Guy DiRito and John Barry, IMHO.
