The Lyrics

"Diff'rent Strokes aired from '78-84 and led to "The Facts of Life." Child stars Todd Bridges as Willis, Dana Plato as Kimberly, and Gary Coleman as Arnold were a hit, but tragedy has struck two of the three leading to a rumored curse of the show (at least towards the child stars). Dana Plato had a promising career as a professional skater that could have joined the US Olympic team, but her mother talked her out of that career for one on television. She never was popular after the show and in desperation got a boob job and posed nude for Playboy in Oct '89. After that, she committed a robbery of a Blockbuster video store for a mere $162 and was arrested. Last spots were on air with Howard Stern. Then alcohol and Vicodin addiction, and finally death by OD with Lortabs at age 35. A tragedy. Coleman was robbed early on by his parents of over $5 Million in earnings and went to court only to recover $1.3 Million. He too had trouble finding work on TV and movies and with his bad health that stunted his growth and required daily dialysis, he fell into despair and worked odd jobs, assaulting a rude fan and having run-ins with the police. He loved railways, but never had the kind of money for the projects he dreamed of. He had a seizure and fell down a flight of stairs causing a head injury. He died days later at age 42. Todd Bridges had some problems with the law and drugs but claims to have cleaned up his life and wrote a book on it. So far, tragedy has not gotten him yet...
Kid stars tragic doom
Not knowing that death would come
Coleman and Plato too
On the series they had fun

For them we mourn
Plato’s Playboy scheme (Oct ‘89 issue)
She did robb’ry too
Put an end to skating dreams

She then overdosed
Died earlier than most
On Lortabs did croak, was the end of the girl

Coleman had a different kind of story
His shortness- disease was tied
His parents stole what he got- quite a lot, he was shocked!
Was in despair, dialysis for years, no (movie) work in line

42, he fell down and died

Curse of “Diff’rent Strokes”
Hurt a lot of folks, fans in the world (Yes it did)
Hurt a lot of folks, fans in the world

[Coleman loved railways, the truth be told]
