The Lyrics

On the 80th anniversary of the surrender of Germans at Stalingrad, a Russian ABBA tribute band that calls itself "АББА" did this musical tribute
Heil, Heil .. at Stalingrad Von Paulus did surrender
Oh yeah .. and Napoleon was frozen out
In quite a similar way
That Rooskiy wintery hell
It keeps repeating itself

Stalingrad .. dashed the dreams the Fuehrer had
Stalingrad .. came to think hes raving mad
Stalingrad .. couldnt warm up if they wanted to
Stalingrad .. Дедь Мороз* turning fingers blue
Stalingrad .. hella lot colder than Waterloo

Heil Heil .. they thought they'd bomb
The place but made the defense stronger
Oh yeah .. and now their only hope is
A breakout to the West
Why does the Fuehrer refuse?
As Жуков (Zhukov) tightens the screws

Stalingrad .. Sixth encircled; it changed the war
Stalingrad .. Krauts on defense forever more
Stalingrad .. Couldn't break out
If they wanted too
Stalingrad .. low on ammo and also food
Stalingrad .. ten times worse than Waterloo

So how could Die Fuehrer refuse
Von Manstein was close to breakthrough

Сталинград .. dashed the schemes the Fuehrer had
Сталинград .. Von Paulus fate to be in a bag
Сталинград .. Never faced truth of Stalingrad

Сталинград .. Goering should be strung up
By his nads
Сталинград .. Soldiers were left holding the bag
Сталинград .. Only 6K survived the trap**

(I did most of that parody 5 yrs ago so heres something new ... Apparently someone has discovered the "lost lyrics" of Tchaikovskiy's 1812 Overture; in particular the famous Cannonade Chorus .... So let me give you a small sampling)

Мы обстреливаемь Французский (БАХУМ!)
Мы обстреливаемь Французский (БАХУМ!)
МЫ обстреливаемь Франции Французский (БАХУМ!)
Мы обстреливаемь Французский (БАХУМ!)

Mee obstrelivayem Frantsoozskiy (Bahoom)
Mee obstrelivayem Frantssoozkiy
Mee obstrelivayem Frantsiy Frantsoozkiy
Mee ....

We are blowing them French troops away (BAHOOM)
We are blowing them French troops away (BAHOOM)
We are blowing Frenchie wenchie troops away (BAHOOM)
We are blowing them French troops away ..

LOAD! ... THE! ... GUNS! .. ONCE MORE!
FULL CANNONADE!!

*Grandpa Frost .. Russian personification of brutal winter cold ... Only 6,000 soldiers of Sixth Army (out of 300K) survived to return to their homes after war

Forgot to tell you (or maybe I was just too lazy) but АББА stands for the first names of the group members, namely .. Anastasia Sakhmehof, Боris Бetinov, Бogdan Djekhov and Anna Kaganobich...... Actually, there is no J sound in Russian, but Russian alphabet improvises by combining D and ZH to make J. But if I had written Dzhekhof, you wouldnt have gotten the .. "joke"

Never underestimate an adversary whose musical canon includes actual cannons

CML, you appear to be multilingual.

At one point or another, Ive learned three separate foreign languages (El linguaje Español, Русский Язык, and اللغة العربية ( Arabic). The latter two I learned in the military; Spanish because I was born and raised in AZ, so you basically pick that language up by osmosis. I was also slightly conversant in Latin. Unfortunately, as Latin is a dead language, there was never anyone to converse with ... We have two people here who are not native speaker but who together have done hundreds of parodies, an absolutely amazing feat. As for me, I probably hold the record for most foreign languages used for parodies (or TBH, parody fragments) (4)
