| Original Song Title: | "Time Of The Season" |
| Original Performer: | The Zombies |
| Parody Song Title: | "It's The Time Of Spring Training" |
| Parody Written by: | Paul Robinson |
Well, I haven't posted in a while because I've been extremely busy at work, but I thought I'd put up this one in honor of Baseball's Spring Training Season. My muse led me to it back in December...she really has no sense of seasons or schedules, but then she puts up with a lot of my imperfections too...
[instrumental intro]
["yeah's" in place of all the "aah's"]
It's the time
of the season
when fan's hopes run high
At this time
NL West looks easy
and to your surprise
the farm hands
are smashing every fastball
off the fence
It looks like lots of fun
This approaching new season has you hoping
[brief instrumentals - "aah's" again replaced by "yeah's"]
Brand new names
(many names)
have been added
(roster padded)
your staff
of pitcher's; it gleams
yeah, the shake-up
(of club's make-up)
they have tried
does show
it's shows this GM wants to win
He signed a lefty starter
got some bats
and someone who can close
At this time this new season looks lovely
[longer instrumental break]
[optimistic jabber about all the promising player's in training camp]
[then more "yeah's" replacing "aah's" leading back into lyrics]]
Not the same
(brand new names)
got some bats here
(better; that's clear)
Bullpen
should give some relief
And the bench has
(yeah, those bench men)
been revived
you hope
You hope they'll show you in the pinch
Get lots of pinch-hit homer's
Things look bright
You're anxious now to go
'cause the Spring is the time to get your hopes up
[long instrumental jam out to end fade]
[more optimistic fan jabber out to end fade]

I vaguely remember the song. I didn't know that you were into baseball. I know from the parodies that you write that you paced and rhymed very well, but I suppose that I just can't get into the subject.
A home run.
i have a real baseball jones goin' on..this helps...thanks...5s
Not sure I'm even gonna watch my team (Boston Red Sox) this year but, I liked your parody of this great old OS. 555
I use to be a baseball fan.
Hi, all! Just taking a quick break from the Tax Grind to look in. Thanks! Pat - I'll send you my piece. JB - I was hoping to score with this. alvin, knew this would be right down the pipe for you. Rick & Ann - you know, I haven't really WATCHED a game in about...oh...well, anyway...I saw a few INNINGS this last year, but never actually watched a whole game...but I DO follow the local teams (Dodgers, Angels) in the newspaper and on-line - generally every day during the season...which is probably weird, but I do. Over the last couple years I've generally grown too antsy to watch sports on TV anymore, but I still like to know how the games came out.
Welcome back Paul! Missed you a lot! Good to see your parodies are still great! 555.
Thanks, Jason...still going to be busy for a while now, but I have a back-log of parodies written I haven't posted, so I'll probably pop a few of them up each week - not much time to look in, though...
Nice to see you back Paul.
Thanks, Mer ~ ~ ~
Very good rhyming on short verses, particularly "added/padded" and shake-up/make-up."
