Parody Song Title:

"Tree Squirrels--Good Fried!"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Tree squirrels--good fried!
Tree squirrels--good fried!

Tree squirrels--good fri-i-ied! (so good fried!)
Tree squirrels--good fried! (or baked in a pie)
Hey squirrel--high in sky-y-y! (say goodbye)
You squirrel--gonna die (don't even try)

Billy Boy, go get Merle, it's time to wake up
Billy Boy, get my guns, meet at the bluff
Billy Boy, rub the sleep from out yer eyes
Tree squirrels--good fried!

Tree squirrels--good fr-i-ied! (give a try)
Tree squirrels--good fried! (just shoo away the flies)

Baby, it's so co-oo-ool! (it's so cool)
Baby, I start to drool (better than gruel!)

Hey there Merle, bust a move, like Billy said
Hey there Merle, this here fam-ily needs to be fed
Hey there Merel, don't make me cry

Tree squirrels--good fried!
Tree squirrels--good fri-i-ied! (cost ain't high)
Tree squirrels--good fried (that much you can't deny!)

Tree squirrels--good fried!
Tree squirrels--good fried!
Tree squirrels--good fried!...

I'll take mine extra-crispy, with a side of chipmunk.

Uh-oh, you're stealing Malcolm's material. That's REALLY squirrelly. But the thought of the Seasons singing about frying up squirrels? Well, they did live near Newark's Branch Brook Park. Nice little barbecue by the cherry blossoms.

A squirrely parody--in a good way.

Serve me up a single syllable - I mean portion of that....

Make that two syllables - er, squirr-els

I used the pronunciation of "squirrels" as heard in the classic parody of The Beastie Boys' "Girls" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKkXn411QTo&feature=related)

That's okay, I still gave you 5's. Must be a regional thing ;-)

SOTM - For a 2:25 long OS you cooked up quite a meal here, loved the "fri-i-ied" bits especially but the whole thing went down as easy as those barbequed hedgehogs that are the regional specialty over here. 555!
Max Power - August 09, 2008 - Report this comment
It's still like eating rats

(SOTM) Great.

Made every syllable count in this one... Such a short song to work with, not exactly SOTM material, but it was still pretty good.

I saw one of your squirrels chasing after Peter A's truck, you know the one with the nuts hanging off the back. BTW - I loved your entry pic on this - hilarious.

(SOTM) Not much to work with, but I love that title sub. Delicious!

Excellent title sub, and good choice of the character singing the parody. I enjoyed it!
Red Ant - August 31, 2008 - Report this comment
Squirrels (sqwirls) do taste good fried. They are often too much work for the meat (sorta like crabs). Tasty parody, Aggy.

(SOTM) Um, I've wondered where Mikey Squirrel has been lately. . .Agri, have you seen him? I thought the idea was fantastic, and you really nailed the feel of TOS. Unfortunately you didn't have a real kick (Bleep) line to stick in my head, fun parody--but I do remember reading stuff by you last month that was stronger than this one. Think this would be a fun recording though:)

Loved the idea, Agri. As you know, I love a good red-neck parody. It's a blue state thang.
I bet the "fri-i-ied" was an early idea in this write. "Jersey Boys meet Deliverance"

(Artistry) Good work Agri. Pacing was excellent. I also loved the "fri-i-ied" parts. This parody is so fun to sing along with, but the were no extremely hilarious lines in it. Don't get me wrong it is funny, but I think it's more cutesy than anything.

I'm no redneck but I've eaten a lot of various animals, including squirrel. The meat is a bit greasy but edible. Good job.

Artistry...I don't know if it was a dream or what...but I SWEAR I've already voted/commented on this. I know I've read it. I think I've been eating too many undercooked squirrels...hahaha.

So...in my alternate reality, I praised this for its simple humor that cracked me up, big time. Not sure if I'll be able to sing the original lyrics again!

(Artistry) I used to work in St. Petersburg FL near a city park. The retirees would sit in the park and feed the birds and squirrels, so they weren't afraid of people. But whenever I walked in to the park with a coworker from Ecudor (who ate squirrels in his home country) the squirrels would scatter. Fun memory to go with a fun parody.
