And now a lament for the Yankees, as club owner George "I Must Win At All Costs!" Steinbrenner leaves manager Joe Torre hanging out in the wind once again.
Oh, show George the way
To the next Yankee Star.
Oh, don’t ask why.
Oh, don’t ask why.
Show George the way
To the next Yankee Star.
Oh, don’t ask why.
Oh, don’t ask why.
What if he don’t find
The next Yankee Star?
I tell you, heads must fly.
I tell you, heads must fly.
I tell you, I tell you,
I tell you, heads must fly!
Oh, axe o’er Joey Torre:
He’ll now be outta there.
We’ve lost another playoffs,
And must kiss Georgie, oh, you-know-where!
Oh, axe o’er Joey Torre:

I tell you, I tell you,
I tell you, heads must fly!
(short instrumental break—on the stadium organ)

Unfortunately, it's all too true. George likes the stardom better than the winning. He's spent his 35 years as Yankee owner grubbing for attention every day. It could be worse: When the Mets made their Playoff run (no, seriously) in 1999, they used the Doors' "L.A. Woman" and its "Mr. Mojo Risin'" chorus as their theme song. Did they not realize that in New York baseball, especially on the National League side, "L.A." is a four-letter word? (In fact, yesterday was Walter O'Malley's birthday. Where he is now, the candles on his cake aren't the only thing on fire.)
another idiot named george...nice job
