The Lyrics

I wrote this after I read about the latest homicide bombing in Israel. The lyrics may be uncomfortable, but express the sadness and frustration I feel.
They killed some Jews today, oh boy
Another homicidal maniac
And once again the World stood still
Well I just have to cry
So many people died.

He blew a busload full of kids
No one noticed that he was a threat
The late day bus was rather full
Now the country's at a loss
Nobody was really sure if he was from Al-Aqsa or Hamas

I saw a news report, oh boy
The road map they created was released
As long as Arafat remains
And pays off his friends
The violence never ends
I'd love to throw him out...

Woke up, fell out of bed,
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup,
And looking up I noticed I was late.
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
But the bus this morning never came
Some of them cried and some of them screamed

They killed some Jews again, oh boy
They won't allow us to feel safe no more
Although our land is very small
They want to take it all
Even though it never once belonged to them before
They'd love to kick us out

A timely song, as you know Mike's Place, the blues bar on Tel Aviv's beachfront was bombed yesterday. However it's important to see that the rightwing militarist policies of Sharon are perpetuating this killing on both sides. If it was up to me, they should put Sharon and Arafat together and let them duke it out, and leave the innocent civilians on both sides alone.

Very provocative and relevant. I agree with two points - (1) it is more accurate to label the perpetrator a "homicidal maniac" than a "suicide bomber," and (2) The land has belonged to the Jews, Romans, Turks, etc., but never to the Palestinians; but I question your comment that Sharon is partly responsible for the murders.

I was just snooping around and found this parody. Even though things have calmed down somewhat, the shattered lives of the injured victims and the friends and families of the dead go on. I applaud you for publishing this. And Adam, if you ever happen to read this, take a look at www.mediabackspin.com for a perspective that might change your perceptions of what's going on in the middle east.

A sobering inside look at the situation. It takes guts to publish this kind of thing, and I thank you.
