That sounds uncharicterstic of a Jewish mom. A Jewish mother is supposed to be a stealth mom - subtile and manipulative.

Alvin - Oy vey! My own Mother was NOT like this...when I was small it was not really that many years since World War II and the Nazi horrors. I sensed she was not thoroughly sure or secure that it could not happen again. So she was very much into "assimilation", and I can't say that I have or had any problem with that. The attitude was that everybody was a human being, had feelings, deserved basic respect. Personally, I think we need more of that rather than pulling back and clinging to ethnic, religious or racial groupings. However, my STEP-MOTHER...HOO BOY!!! Actually, she was not so much shrill as just completely sure that she was right about everything; there was no convincing or changing her mind. Still, somehow she managed to make my Father pretty happy (for the most part) for 34 years so I'll give her credit for that. OH...yeah...ALVIN! Good job - 5's.
