The Lyrics

The Messerschmitt Bf 109 remains the Greatest Fighter of All-Time with 35,000 produced from 1935-45 in Germany. A great design by Willy Messerschmitt the Bf 109 was known for its lethality and the making of aces. The greatest aces of all-time as well. Major Erich Hartmann loved his Bf 109 and had 352 kills! Of the 120,000 aircraft shot down by German aircraft in WW2, the Bf 109 accounted for nearly 20,000 of them! It had production postwar in Czechoslovakia, Spain, France, and was used by the IAF in 1948 as the Jewish State's first fighter!!! Long live the memory of the "Augsburg Adler"

I actually expect many puns over the 109. But if you take a look at the Bf 109K-4 from 1945, it was far from obsolete with a DB 605 ASCM/DCM engine of 2000 hp, 2-stage supercharger, MW injection, 452 mph (faster than a Mustang or last Spits), 41,000 ft ceiling (no ETO Allied bomber could reach), 4800 fpm climb (faster than the jet 262), and carrying 2x 20mm MG-151/20s upper, a 30mm MK-108 in the spinner, plus add-on R6 installations of 2 more MK-108s (one under each wing) OR rockets from 55-280mm!!! A special modified version (SO Bf 109) would have been used to drop German 440 kg tactical mini-nukes. Messerschmitt, btw, means Knifesmith.

The Spanish Air Force had a number of these planes into the 1960's. Along with the local version of the He.111 bomber, they made it possible to film a realistic looking "Battle of Britain", one of the best air war movies ever produced.

The IAF got some from Czechoslovakia (G-models) that shot-down the first Arab plane of the Independence War- a DC-3 being used as light strike aircraft!!!
