The Lyrics

youtube

This is based on the classic 1954 Universal monster flick "The Creature From the Black Lagoon."

Now somewhere in the wet swampy land of the Amazon
Lived a creature named Blacky Lagoon
One day a woman showed up in a bathing suit
Blacky found her mighty cute
But she didn't like that
Said, "You're starting to annoy"
The next day her beau scuba'd down
Lookin' for the goon with a loaded harpoon

Blacky Lagoon began to assume
Gone was his life as a hermit
Someone was there, with tanks full of air
And packing a valid fish permit

Now rivals for her, it seemed that they were
Though Blacky knew nothing of romance
The girl, name of Kay, didn't swing quite that way
To love a fish man wearing no pants

Well she and her knave, a doctor named Dave
Were lounging aboard their boat "Rita"
Blacky climbed in, while waving a fin
That said, "Howdy girl, damn glad to meet ya"

But Dave blew his stack--his harpoon went "thwack"
And Blacky flopped down like a flounder

Doot, n'doot, n'doot, etc.

The creature demised, rolling his eyes
As they pleaded for some kind of closure
They said, "Why can't I get my wish?"
And Davey said, "Dude, you're only a fish
And interspecies, interspecies romance isn't in the brochure"

So Blacky Lagoon, fell back to his doom
Slowly to sink to the bottom (the poor schnook)
Davey felt blue, addressing the crew
And said "Well boys, smoke if you got 'em"

Wahhh, yeah, yeah

Doot, n'doot, n'doot, etc. (Go down, Blacky boy)

Sorry, Blacky

I knew it. Outstanding. And yours has a love triangle with a swamp thing as the corner, which really kicks it up a notch. Loved the wish/fish couplet, and the internal poetry was great.

Thanks Rob! Yeah, I haven't heard anything about that in awhile but I wasn't really looking forward to it anyway.

I found out that this just came out on March 20th. It is crap. Synopsis: An ex-Navy seal, his girlfriend and their friends head out on a road trip to New Orleans. When the group decides to stop at a roadside convenience store, they are introduced to the legend of Lockjaw, a Creature who is part man, part alligator. The Legend has it that an inbred local man by the name of Grimley lost his family to a monstrous white alligator, and because of the devastating loss of his family was driven to madness and was transformed into the Creature. Their curiosity peaked, the group decides to head deeper into the swamps to check out the birthplace of this Creature legend. Stars Serinda Swan, Mehcad Brooks, Sid Haig, Pruitt Vince, Rebekah Kennedy, Aaron Hill. $12.99 @ CD Universe...
