Song Parodies -> Two Grieving Mamas
| Original Song Title: | "Lady Madonna" |
| Original Performer: | The Beatles |
| Parody Song Title: | "Two Grieving Mamas" |
| Parody Written by: | MooRocca |
This is based on the local talk about all too real events that have unfolded in my tiny town in the last few days. One mother's teen son was murdered by morphine overdose at a party he attended on a Friday night and then, on Tuesday night, another mother and her boyfriend backed their car down a slippery boat ramp, got out and watched it slide into the lake with her three young children (6, 3 and 1,) inside.
Their grieving mama, children in the drink
Stood there on the bank as she watched them sink
Weeps for the money, deducted from her check
Didn't think the system would catch it yet
Friday night before there'd been a party
Someone else's kid was having fun
Morphine patches placed without his knowledge
Sleep, murdered son
His grieving mama, baby lying dead
Wonders how the other did what she did
(instrumental break)
She wants her son
Questioned their mama, lying 'bout the deaths
Tripped 'n changed her story, spinning tangled webs
Tuesday's aftergloom is never ending
Wednesday morning's papers, struck us dumb
Thursday night the news crews blocked the exits
See how they come?
How could their mama put them in the drink?
Knowing they were watching her watch them sink.
Stood there on the bank as she watched them sink
Weeps for the money, deducted from her check
Didn't think the system would catch it yet
Friday night before there'd been a party
Someone else's kid was having fun
Morphine patches placed without his knowledge
Sleep, murdered son
His grieving mama, baby lying dead
Wonders how the other did what she did
(instrumental break)
She wants her son
Questioned their mama, lying 'bout the deaths
Tripped 'n changed her story, spinning tangled webs
Tuesday's aftergloom is never ending
Wednesday morning's papers, struck us dumb
Thursday night the news crews blocked the exits
See how they come?
How could their mama put them in the drink?
Knowing they were watching her watch them sink.

Well said Melhi .
Mothers like that are....not mothers!
Very well done (The five for "funny" was as in "Funny how some people still think motherhood automatically makes you an adult") Anyway, thanks a lot; now I'm all depressed and I'll never finish "Blasphemian Rhapsody"
Thanks, Wildman, Pat and Claude. (Sorry I'm so late replying and am behind on rating. Away due to family emergency. Nothing too serious, should be back and catching up after the weekend. )
I am glad that Spaff suggested checking out your parodies - this is a strong reminder of how fragile and precious the gift of life can be.
Thanks John. They're still investing both cases, so have brought no charges and made no arrests in either. I think all of us, in my county, have hugged our kids a few extra times since that week. Heck, my own folks have hugged *me* a few extra times since.
I would give my own life to save my kids from danger... Excellent Parody, Melhi!
Diva, me too. In my darkest nightmares, I cannot imagine lacking that instinct to protect them... and, believe me, mine do have their moments when they really test that instinct. :D
Oops, "investing" should have been "investigating" and we learned, today, that arrests have been made in the drowning deaths: http://www.wandtv.com/SendPage.asp?4674
