yes, twas everyone who came to listen to his stories
they would shout, "hey burl, what will ya play ?"
and ol' kindly burl sure had the touch with range a-soarin'
fingers on the frets while singin' lays
ah, burl
burl
twas the wizard, so sublime, all time applause receiver
croonin' tenderly, he'd make ya cry
astonishin' in girth, indeed, a folk tale weaver
laughter mixed with rhyme, with grin so sly
ah, burl
burl
he was such a pearl
cause he could clown with such a flair
he broke the rules
songs he played would sound so good
he acted too, when ere he could
twas cool...ooh...ooh...ooh
burl
burl
loved by old ones and the young alike, he gave us pleasure
legendary gent, it must be said
yes, the man sure had the knack, he earned his pay, this treasure
i still can't believe that he is dead

Thanks for giving this a whirl. I didn't hurl. I'ves given this fives.
Nice tribute. I liked the "weaver" double entendre.
My folkds always played his Christmas Album, now we listen to his CD. Thanks for giving him the credit he so aptly deserves!
A nice not to Big Daddy.
A fine tribute to the Burlster. Every year we hear "Holly Jolly" and "Silver and Gold" without remembering who recorded those tunes. And, as Stan mentioned, his performance in "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof" is a must see.
Always liked ol Burl, his songs and movies..excellent tributing
Nice tribute put to rhyme. I still remember OK Crackerby.
