The Lyrics

Wait
Oh yes wait a minute Mister Taxman
Wait
Wait Mister Taxman
Mister Taxman look and see
Oh yeah
Is there a little tax refund for me
Please please Mister Taxman
I've been working such a long time
And you take a chunk from this wage of mine
There must be a refund to pay
From the tax office so far away
Please Mister Taxman look and see
If there's a little tax refund for me
I've been working so hard Mister Taxman
I pay my income tax every week
I need a call, or just a letter
Saying a tax refund is coming back to me

Please Mister Taxman
Please Mister Taxman look and see
Oh yeah
Have you got a little refund of tax for me
Please please Mister Taxman
I've been working a long long time
Oh yeah
You take your chunk from that wage of mine
So much tax I paid on time
And so much from the small wage which is mine
You didn't even make me feel better
With more forms and a threatening letter
Mister Taxman
Mister Taxman look and see
If there's a tax return coming to me
I've been working such a long time
To pay your deductions from this wage of mine
You got to have some pity have some pity
Oh yeah
Have some pity have some pity
Oh yeah
Have some pity, have some pity
Check it and see, one more time for me....

Good concept, but needed a bit more interest

What Phil said, i.e. a little more variations in your lyrics. Also, same pacing comment as at "Unicorn" parody. E. g. "I pay my income tax every week" vs. OS "So patiently" -- 9 syllables vs. 4.... Yeah, it's a tough crowd here, but you've got clever ideas, and if you put up with our pickiness and stick with it, you'll become a really good parodist. Stay with it!

I'm with TT, Stella...you've got some great ideas, but sometimes your work seems a little rushed. Aim for quality over quantity (my rule: never post more than 3 parodies a day) and you'll do well.

Stella, Tommy and Kristof have covered what I was formulating myself to say - the ideas are fine, but they need more work in the pacing department. There are many ways to work your way into the correct syllable count: Merry and I tend to make heavy use of apostrophes, that's not everyone's cup of tea though. You can drop 'un-necessary' words, reverse parts of sentences to make the syllable rhyme (e.g. "To the bus I am going") etc etc.
