Parody Song Title:

"Rocket To the Moon Redux"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

This is a revised, expanded edition of my parody with a similar title. The original was submitted from my archives without a check for pacing, spelling and completeness, so I've finally redid it to my satisfaction. This version is the entry for Round 8 in the Ages of Amiright Competition organized by Matthias.
Now some day we'll take us a case of Coca Cola and take a rocket to the moon
Yes sir, we'll do it up right and bring lots of food and wine
We'll swoon and sigh, we'll take a rocket like that
The one we saw on "Astro Boy"
You'll be dressed in a plastic gown
Book us up a flight, we'll be going real soon
Rocket to moon, be seeing you soon
And it won't even be a high bill

The rocket is fun, it's 'A Number One'
We won't even need Lysol
We'll see laser beams in our silicon jeans
And even much more that we can see
Oh, it will be a thrill
I just get a chill
It is all inside of the plan, see?

Our maintenance man who calls himself Stan
Will give the bunkrooms a good washdown
A green alien will be the first in
To give Security a big showdown!
If things get too hot in the rocketship pot
Well, we'll just prepare for a big crashdown
(Yada, yada, yada, ya-da, da)
(Yada, yada, yada, ya-da, da, ad lib)

Press the buttons and spin
While we give a big grin
We'll begin to tell a wise fable
About Rockets lit by a match
And chocolate donuts deep fried from scratch
And television programming before there was cable

Our rocket to the moon
Has only enough room
For you and me, not the rabble
Come on, Old Scout,
We'll eat sauerkraut
And play us a few rounds of Scrabble.

(Yada, yada, yada, ya-da, da, light up the rockets now, yada, yada)
(Yada, yada, yada, ya-da, da, , come fly the rockets now., yada, yada) (AD LIB)

Our rocket song it now be done!

(Ages) . . .well, this isn't my favorite Beatles song either, but again, as with the first one I read, I have to put that aside for the parody judgement. "And chocolate donuts deep fried from scratch" came out of no-where, but it like most your work, just seemed to work for you. Not my favorite by you--but all is cool

(Ages) Heheheh, this is warped! But it's only fitting since the OS is kind of like that, too. Nice.

(Ages) I agree with Cat, it's warped. But still a fun song. I still like to hear about the fables of TV before cable. :-) Maybe music on discs made of vinyl.

(ABC) Whoa, I read this one before? Completely forgot this one. Sadly, it appears to have not aged well. It seemed a bit random, to be honest, and the pacing was more than a little spotty in places. Maybe if it was meant to be young kids imagining what a space trip would be like, I could dig it, but as is it's just kinda odd. Maybe I'm missing something.
Abbott Skelding - September 17, 2016 - Report this comment
Overall, pretty okay. It's not my favorite Beatles song, and it seemed to be all over the place to me. Still a nice effort.

You seemed pretty spaced out writing this one buddy. I kind of agree with T-Cop & Abbott and it seemed a bit random not really following a coherent thought process BUT I still found it a lot of fun.
