WHITE TRASH STORY

A REDNECK MUSICAL

[ACT ONE]
[SCENE ONE]

{Setting: First Class Seats Of An Airplane}

(BUBBA is playing in his seat, next to his brother JUSTIN, and the window moving up and down the shade, using the tray table as a catapult, and ripping pages out of magazines within the seat and chewing on them)

JUSTIN
"Bubba, I just wanted to thank you for letting me stay at your place during the duration of my business trip. I'm sure finding a hotel in Memphis would be a pain in the butt. And it's always better to stay with family.

BUBBA
"Justin, Yer fam-lay, y'alls always welcome ta stay"

JUSTIN
"I appreciate that Bubba"

BUBBA
"After all y'all let me fly in this giant metal pigeon"

(Bubba starts playing with the lights and buttons above his head)

JUSTIN
"It was my pleasure after all you've done for me"

BUBBA
"Y'all think dat dis plane serves whisky?"

JUSTIN
"I doubt it but you can always ask. Hey, Bubba I have a question."

BUBBA
"Shoot"

JUSTIN
"What exactly is there to do in Tennessee, when I'm not working I might as well go enjoy myself."

BUBBA
"What is there to do in Tennessee? Surely, you can't be serious!"

JUSTIN
"I am serious and don't call me Shirley."

(Bubba stands on chair as the music begins to start)

"Down In Tennessee"
By Steve Kalafut

(In the background the plane takes off)

(BUBBA)
Fishin' near the dam built by the TVA
Caught the food we ate last night
Hoping that ole ranger man will stay away
Chop some wood by early light
We're down here in ole Tennessee
We think it's the best place to be, y'all
Down here in ole Tennessee, yeah

We will not let city folks mess up this place
These ole woods I call my home
Turn on the TV to watch the NASCAR race
Honey just forget the phone
We're down here in ole Tennessee
We think it's the best place to be, y'all
Down in the valley
Down in the valley
Down here in ole Tennessee

Well the mountain music is what I love
It leaves the rest behind
The Nashville sound is a cut above
Ole Rocky Top is always on my my my my my my my mind
Y'all, come on

(fiddle solo)

We're down here in ole Tennessee
We think it's the best place to be, y'all
Down here in ole Tennessee, yeah

Well the mountain music is what I love
It leaves the rest behind
The Nashville sound is a cut above
Ole Rocky Top is always on my my my my my my my mind

Oh, show me round your Smoky Mountains way down south
Corn is growing on my farm
Let me hear your banjos when they're ringing out
Come and drink your moonshine warm
We're down here in ole Tennessee
We think it's the best place to be, y'all
Down here in ole Tennessee, yeah

Oh, see y'all city slickers

And away we go! Steve, this was a wonderful opening!

I just got through part A. Going to read it all over the course of the day. A truly prodidgious project--looking like 5s across the board.

Originally I was going to mix the album up and use "Mother Nature's Ass" to open the production. This however would have messed up the order of the album, and although it would make the story a little less bumpy it wouldn't have been true to the original "White Album" so I had to come up with a diffrent angle for this. Which lead me to the Airport, for some reason I turn to the Airport when I can't think of anything, and it let me introduce a character that was not in any of the songs. Justin McCoy. Since "Back In The USSR" was a quick pace and rocking melody it was a good way to begin the album.

Thanks, Ag. I was just glad to get in the action. Not just an album, but we've got a rock opera (or maybe a bluegrass opera).

Lovely intro, St Matthias. I can't wait to see what happens next. And Steve: Fun stuff with some great subs, e.g., the perfect "Smoky Mountains" for "snow-peaked mountains."

Indeed, great opening to the album, Matthias. A solid parody here, Steve. Thanks for the song links; I still can't find my White Album, though I reckon that won't be a problem after I finish reading all of these. =)
