"Ticket To Ride"

Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Ticket To Hyde"

Parody Written by:

The Comedian

The Lyrics

One drink, he's gonna be bad
He'll drink it today, yeah!
Je-kyll is writhing like mad
He's going astray

He's got a ticket to Hyde
He's got a ticket to Hy-y-yde
He's got a ticket to Hyde
And he's gone there!

He said that hu-man-i-ty
Is chemically-bound, yeah!
And he would cleverly see
What might turn it 'round

He's got a ticket to Hyde
He's got a ticket to Hy-y-yde
He's got a ticket to Hyde
And he's grown hair!

He don't know why he's writhing so wild
He thought he'd drink nice
He thought he'd do right wise-ly!

He'd pour it just to make himself high
He didn't think twice
He didn't know Hyde was HE !!!

Hyde stinks like slime and he's bad
He's stinking today, yeah!
The world is driving him mad
He's going to slay!

He's Doctor Jekyll and Hyde
He's Doctor Jekyll and Hy-y-yde
He's Doctor Jekyll and Hyde
And he don't care!

He don't know why he's Hyde in the night
He didn't think Hyde's
A clever dude wise like he!

Now gore and guts are spraying through cries
He got a big knife
He took a dude's life blithe-ly!

[ HYDE: ]
"He said that living with me
Is bringing him down, yeah!
That he would never be free,
While I was around!"

Ahhh---

He's gotta stick it to Hyde
He's gotta stick it to Hy-y-yde
He's gotta stick it to Hyde
'Til he's not there!

Hyde's crazed, he don't care!
Hyde's crazed, he don't care!
Hyde's crazed, he don't care!
Hyde's crazed, he don't care!
Hyde's crazed, he don't care!
Hyde's crazed, he don't care!

Great, JD - must admit, I was thinking along the lines of "stick it to Hyde", and then got to your last chorus... excellent :)
stuart mcarthur - October 18, 2005 - Report this comment
fantastic, JD - you get those multiple matching syllables and make the line flow and make sense as well - can't hyde my admiration (well, it's hard to get a good pun when I'm so far down the comments) - 555

Wow, thanks, everybody!

Arwen: Thanks! :-)

JB: And I'm looking forward to you treating us with your 99-parody-trick!

Paul: Thanks for your concern --- the town in trouble is Taunton, many miles south and east of my home town of Concord.

Tim: Heh heh heh...Dr. Jekyll would be honored to be your bartender...

Rick C: Hyding 'em in plain sight is all right with me!

Stephen: Thank you, sir!

Adagio: Merci, madame!

MP: As Jekyll comments go, yours was jigger-then-toast.

alvin: IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII THANK YOU!

AFW: A triple-thank-you to you!

PMS: Took me a moment to get that, I'm embarassed to admit! Thanks!

Philbo: Great minds warp alike, I guess!

Stuart: Thanks for mentioning the syllable-matching --- it's something I like to do whenever I can get away with it!

Excellent combination of Robert Louis Stevenson and the Beatles.
Peter Andersson - October 19, 2005 - Report this comment
Let's face it, that book was written in the Victorian age and is really about some sort of liquid Viagra, hence it'll hopefully make some sense when I say that I think this parody's been prematurely ejaculated before Hallowen.

SOTM...I'm no longer scared of this parody...so I've been able to enjoy it even more the second time around. "He took a dude's life blithe-ly!" LOL!
Agrimorfee - November 10, 2005 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Clever as usual. Reminds me of the kind of parody that's performed weekly by our local horror movie host, Svengoolie.

(SOTM) Very funny, Johnny...hehehe . 5's
Peter Andersson - November 19, 2005 - Report this comment
Svengoolie! I can see the headlines now, England's in the World Cup final next year but more than 50 percent of the players are on the injury list, or have gathered up two yellow cards and are not allowed to play, so team manager Sven-Göran Eriksson will have to double as a goalie; Svengoolie!

(SOTM) Nicely done, JD!
wannabemustangjockey - November 23, 2005 - Report this comment
SOTM - I can't believe I initially thought that, with a title like "Ticket to Hyde", this was going to be about a crosstown bus trip through London or something... boy was I wrong!
Red Ant - November 24, 2005 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Johnny D, you never cease to amaze me with your rhymes, pacing and parody concepts. This is very funny, set to a great, catchy Beatles OS. I guess I can't Hyde my admiration! 5s.
Stuart McArthur - November 25, 2005 - Report this comment
(SOTM) see above - again plaudits for the syllable-matching "Hyde stinks like slime and he's bad" - almost has an adagioesque feel to it - and I really hate it it when mass-murderers take dudes' lives blithely
Tim Mayfield - November 27, 2005 - Report this comment

(SOTM) It's bleedin' hard to get good syllable matches all the way through a parody, and keep it funny...I've never pulled it off. You (along with JAB) make it look effortless. Great job. 555
