Song Parodies -> Roddenberry's Lonely Star Trek Fans
| Original Song Title: | "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" |
| Original Performer: | The Beatles |
| Parody Song Title: | "Roddenberry's Lonely Star Trek Fans" |
| Parody Written by: | The Comedian |
It was forty years ago today,
Roddenberry brought to man, a play -
That's been going in and out of style,
But it's guaranteed to raise a smile!
It's hokey melodrama, true,
Attracting homely nerds for years -
Roddenberry's
Lonely Star Trek Fans!
We're Roddenberry's Lonely Star Trek Fans!
We hope they will renew the show!
Roddenberry's Lonely Star Trek Fans!
Eat snacks and watch our waistlines grow!
Roddenberry's Lonely
Roddenberry's Lonely
Roddenberry's Lonely Star Trek Fans
We all wish we could be there,
Deanna Troi's a thrill -
She's such a lovely Betazoid,
We'd like to take her home with us,
We'd love to take her home!
We all really want to watch the show
And we thought you might like to know
That Uhura's going to sing a song
And the Vulcan's harp'll sing along
To Bones and Chekov and Sulu,
To Scotty, Kirk, and Spock, a cheer -
From
Roddenberry's
Lonely Star Trek Fa-a-aaans!
(long interlude of the greatest album in the history of the galaxy...)
(...then...reprise: )
We're Roddenberry's Lonely Star Trek Fans!
We bow to Roddenberry's name!
Roddenberry's Lonely Star Trek Fans!
In sunlight we'd burst into flame!
Roddenberry's Lonely
Roddenberry's Lonely
Roddenberry's Lonely
Roddenberry's Lonely
Roddenberry's Lonely Star Trek Fans!
In darkened basement rooms we dwell!
Roddenberry's Pale And Homely Lonely Star Trek Fans!
We never wash or bathe - we smell!
Roddenberry's Lonely
Roddenberry's Lonely
Roddenberry's Lonely Sta-aaar ... Trek ... Fa-aaans!

I hate Star Trek, but I like this parody.
what John said - and I don't know Roddenberry, but it sounds like he should get out in the sun once in a while - nice work Johnny - 555
Great! 5's
Enterprising!
"In sunlight we'd burst into flame!" Niiiice....is it really forty years ago today? Must get my Klingon forehead drycleaned....555
Parody - the final frontier. Enjoyed it more that a decanter of Romulan ale.
Stereotypes have never been this funny.
If this is a part of a new mission to boldly go where no Beatles parodies have gone before, then I hope it's a five year mission and I'll say that so far "fives yer mission".
brilliant.....best one i've read today
Delightful, Johnny! I especially liked the way you worked the funny line..."Roddenberry's Lonely Star Trek Fans! Eat snacks and watch our waistlines grow!".....into the music and made it funnier. 5's
The lead-in to "With A Little Help From My Friends": Caaaaaap-tiaaaaan Kiiirrrrrrk
Aw crap! I meant to vote 5s on this, not 1s! Somebody please counterbalance this out!
Very fun and entertaining. You know that in "Futurama", Star Trek was turned into a religion around the 26th century.
Preacher: "And Scotty declared it would be NO tribble at all."
Congregations: "ALL POWER TO THE ENGINES"

I see that the "ones" vote is gone. Thanks to whoever removed it! (Now let's see if you can erase triple-one votes on other parodies.) ;D
Looks like my vote registered as 5,5,5 this time.

I'm beaming! Johnny, you got all the angles. Quite photon-genic. If you like this parody, please dial 555-IStillLiveAtHomeWithMyParentsEvenThoughIAm43
Triple Warp 10's (reduced to 5's by voting system limitation) to this...great job, JD...
Excellent :-)
Abfabulicious! My own word I just made up for this occasion. It means absolutely fabulous and delicious! I am a bit of a science fiction fan in general, although, I do not consider myself a "Trekkie" or "Trekker." Although, I have seen more than my share to recognize someone has done their research. Logically speaking of course…hmmm…are my ears getting pointy? ^-^
This is great! 555!
One of the best parodies I've read in weeks. Thank you! 555! I guess I'm not the only one that can pick on nyerds...
This parody will live long and prosper. I'm just glad you didn't say Deanna was certainly a TRILL! Marina Sirtis used to do for me what Catherine Zeta-Jones does now. And she still looks pretty good, but, alas, both actress and character are hitched.
You..... Could...... Have used..... More...... Kirk references... in your parody. Other than that, your parody was off the hook! It was highly logical AND funny! I'd give you tens if I could, but you'll just have to settle to 5's.
Thanks everybody, JB, Stuart, Bob, Guy, Kristof, Rex, Olvan, Peter, alvin, Adagio, Steve K., rat, 2nz, Tim, Paul, Adam, Kim, Jack, Charlie, Michael, and Chris!
Stay tuned for "With A Little Help From Star Trek", "Lucid In The Sky Cloudminders", "A Day In The Captain's Log", and who knows... maybe more... ;-)

Excellent title, excellent timing for submission, and excellent parody.
Thank you, JJ.
I wish I could be like you on this website. If there was a such thing as 10s, I'd give you all 10s.
Thanks very much, raddog20002002!
(SOTM) See previous comment. Now beam me to the next SOTM parody.
Thank you, Guy.
(SOTM) See above comment. Why do I get a feeling that this is a lock for SOTM? Damn you, Johnny D!
(SOTM) I take issue with your characterization - I took a bath once, back in '82.
(SOTM) Already commented. Glad to have the chance to read it again! :D
(SOTM) dunno the OS too well but this was well written!
(SOTM) Combined with the other tunes you morphed from the LP, this ranks very high on your list of achievements.
(SOTM) This would have made the perfect theme song for the Trekkers documentaries. If they do a part 3, I soooo hope they find this and ask to use it.
(SOTM) - already commented - and I loved the whole album JD
(SOTM) A highly illogical laugh riot.......555
Thanks, Charlie, Rex, Adagio, Ash, Agrimorfee, Melhi, Stuart, and Rick C.
(SOTM) Gives me an Idea for a parody about trekkies.
Well done, loved the switch to homely!
(SOTM) One for the Trekkies. Can't wait for what angle you'll take with the 'Captain's Log'. ;)
Great title; awesome stuff.
(SOTM) I'm a sucker for great titles. Nice work.
Fantastic title, lotsa great lines (especially "burst into flame" and "pale and homely"). I'm not a Star Trek geek, but I'm definitely a Beatles geek, so I look forward to reading the rest of the album.
(SOTM) Yeah, I've got your warped 5's right here...
SOTM--Didn't read this during the month as I have zero knowledge of Trek stuff...but this paces well...=) Nice job...
Thanks Scathe, Jeff, Luke, Claude, Jordan, Spaff, Tim, and Arwen.
Wayyyyyy too cool! Not to mention too true. *L* This from a Trekker who got a life.

(SOTY 05) Write wrong and prosper!
(2005 SOTY) Well, I can manage a shower between commercial breaks. ;-) Good work on this OS Johnny D. Warp Five, engage!
Still one of the greatest parody titles ever, Captain Small. And more kudos on all the content itself; this time I particularly liked "Eat snacks and watch our waistlines grow."
Hilarious! Reminds me of Will Shatner's get a life routine on SNL. Lotta great lines here. 5s
(ABC) Another Johnny D classic rears its big ol' Klingon-sized head to conquer the universe! :D
Live long and prosper
ABC-Beam it up
(ABC) again, lovely pacing, a great idea, and some killer lines - logically that adds up to 555 I believe Captain
With my eyebrow raised, I must say - "interesting"!
(ABC) I remember this one, JD. As Spaff said, excellent parody title and parody to match. :-)
(ABC) Um, something tells me (54 votes and counting) that this is not the first comp for this one;0) Though that's obvious, what's also glaringly obvious is why. . .it's just enough gross (We never wash or bathe - we smell!), futuristic (long interlude of the greatest album in the history of the galaxy...) and just plain funny (It's hokey melodrama, true, Attracting homely nerds for years -) to really make anyone laugh. . .great job here Johnny. . .this is really the first parody I've read by you that really got me going.
ABC - 5-5-5. Trekkies are funny...... hehehe....
Again, great idea for the song, great title, and I loved the whole thing!
(ABC3) I misread "thrill" as "trill" and started thinking "No, Dax is the trill. Johnny D must be slipping. Man, I'm a nerd." ;) Alas, you are correct. See above!
Terrific Trek spoof!!!!----MM
(ABC) Parodies... the.. final frontier... these are the funny lyrics of the parody writer... Johnny D. His ongoing mission.. to write a hilarious Star Trek song spoof, to seek out votes and admiration... to boldly write what no man has written before! Great job, Johnny!
Belated thanks to Golem100, Agrimorfee, Red Ant, Spaff, Yoidy, Agrimorfee(again), Matthias, Max, Stuart, ford, Rick C, Below Average Dave, The Charnstar, Jeff, Red Ant(again), Michael, and Mikey!
