The Lyrics

Bill O'Reilly has often claimed on his show that he has "been in combat." Well, O'Reilly was never, repeat, never in the military. Period. What he means by "I've been in combat" is that he was a reporter in a war zone. Not quite the same as the impression he likes to give about "being in combat." His bombast is noxious enough without resorting to giving false impressions of his combat experience. Fair and balanced. Yeah, right.
Fighting Correspondent, from the sky,
He was there, when others died.
A man who means, just what he says (or else),
The brave man, in the Fox News Fez.

Silver Mont Blanc, in his fist,
There's no foe, he won't resist.
He's been in combat, or so he says,
The brave man, in the Fox News Fez.

A dime store warrior, a drug store dude,
Made a career, of being rude.
He's fair and balanced, or so he says,
The brave man, in the Fox News Fez.

His combat record, second to none,
But when danger came, he was free to run.
He's a combat veteran, so you beware,
He was close enough, to say he was there.

If you've got one, of O'Reilly's guys,
Bill will be there, in his disguise.
You'd better know, this will come to pass,
He'll take his pen, and shoot your ass.

Fighting correspondent, from the sky,
He was there, when others died.
A man who means, just what he says (or else),
The brave man, in the Fox News Fez.

The sentiment is a five, the sharpness of the attack is a five, the choice of a target is definitely appropriate. But the pacing is way off. Personally, I don't care about that (which is why I gave you a four for pacing, instead of the two it probably deserves), but there are those who do. You're pretty close to getting this sort of thing right. Keep at it.

I'm sure Bill O'Reilly would be the first to clarify that his combat experience is as a reporter--which is more combat experience than many people have--and it involves putting oneself in harm's way. But people who want to split hairs will always do it, and with great gusto.
