A Portrait of Badly Aging Drag
THOSE WERE THE DAYS
Once upon a time there was a Drag Bar
Where we used to do a show or two
Remember how we'd practice all those hours
Then walk on stage and forget what to do
Those were my friend the days
When dance moves all were flays
We dance and sing; well actually we'd mime
We'd live the life we choose
Survive on pills and booze
And always get our mouthing out of time - (To be sung by pianist while singer badly mimes)
la la la la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
Then the dizzy years went rushing by us
We lost our youth's complexions on the way
And if by chance I'd see you at the tavern
We'd greet each other then we'd turn away - (Sticking finger down throat)
Those were the days my friend
Of tragic girly men
We'd scab a dance with anyone we can
So tragic'ly we'd schmooze
Orthotics in our shoes
For we were mutton surely dressed as lamb
Ba ba ba ba ba ba...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days...
Just tonight I stood before the tavern
Nothing fit the way it used to be
In the glass I saw a fat reflection
The product of too many Sara lee
Through the door I hobbled on my loafers
I heard a voice familiar through the years
I tried to turn around to see your face friend
But now you'll find I'm Botoxed to the ears
These are the days my friend
When shocked looks never end
For where there's will, there's bound to be a way
To pass the aging test
Looking like David Guest
So I'll stay young forever and a day
Lie lie lie
Yes they're the days...
Those tragic f#@king days....
Once upon a time there was a Drag Bar
Where we used to do a show or two

I just found this one and thought it was pretty good too!
Mutton dressed as lamb - excellent line!
Have given this a go on stage to very good response - love it.
