The Lyrics

ooh...i wondered if my life was through
on that night, when the fireworks blew
while watchin' some guys, that i'd seen before
but what a surprise that concert had in store
a lot of people died, i must say
when that band played yesterday
don't you know that...

i burned while viewin' great white
flames grew stronger on that bleak night
oh, i burned while viewin' great white
and i never thought i'd feel such fright
run, oh , run, oh yeah

i know that these fans weren't supposed to fry
guess this show should have been outside
smoke and fumes can end your life, you see
and it damned near finished me
i had to run and save myself
let it kill someone else
i said...

i burned while viewin' great white
flames grew stronger on that bleak night
oh, i burned while viewin' great white
and i never thought i'd feel such fright
run, oh , run, oh yeah

people turned to flee this calamity
start to run, because of fear
everyone was so confused
as they took off towards the rear
twas a band that i loved so
but i won't see them anymore
don't you know...

i burned while viewin' great white
flames grew stronger on that bleak night
oh, i burned while viewin' great white
and i never thought i'd feel such fright
run, oh , run, oh yeah

burned while viewin' great white
when the fireworks went off that night, baby
yeah yeah yeah yeah

What John Barry said ...... I have family in Rhode Island, and my wife and I have gone out to dinner many times at The Cowesett Inn, 226 Cowesett Avenue, West Warwick, RI .... so .... I've seen (across the street, literally, from that restaurant) the empty-lot-turned-into-a-memorial many times, too .... so sad .... but sharp, intense parody here.

alvin -- Whew ! This was a hot one! 5-5-5. JD - that has to be a very sobering view, you know terrible things like this happen and at the time everyone, everywhere thinks about it and feels for those involved. But to the people who still live in that town, eat, or worse, work at the restaurant and other places around there it must be very difficult sometimes to carry on their everyday existence.

Alvin - I just saw that the only vote remaining on this one was someone who apparently was offended here. So I did my re-vote. This is certainly one that could easily rub someone the wrong way but I also view this type of parody as serving a cautionary function beyond whether it is funny or not. We tend to feel bad, offer support & sympathy and then by the nature of life that day is gone and we must look and work forward. We assume everyone has learned the horrible lesson and that everyone will take all the steps required to avoid any repeat of the incident. How often do we find out that the people who ought to be riding herd on that drop the ball and fail to follow through on everything.? Consider this a disaster Snooze-alarm warning... 5's
