The Lyrics

I’M LIVING ON THE BREADLINE

Aah, I guess you know just how I feel.
We get such an awful deal.
When we reach this stage, and we’re on our own.
It seems that nobody cares,
And we’re just left alone.
It’s no surprise I live this way,
It’s the same thing every day.
Can’t you see that...

I’m living on the breadline,
And I never see the sun shine.
Yes I’m living on the breadline,
But I hardly think the fault is all mine.
I need money, yeah.

I’ve tried to do good, so it’s hard to take.
Now I fear that my mind will break.
When you lose the one you loved so much,
And you miss her every touch.
I should have done so much more;
Picked myself off the floor.
But now...

I’m living on the breadline,
And I never see the sun shine.
Yes I’m living on the breadline,
But I hardly think the fault is all mine.
I need money, yeah.

Whatever I earned, it just seemed to go.
Debts we incurred would grow and grow.
Things grew worse the day that I was fired;
All was lost, so I retired.
Did I have a pension? No!
I live a life of tension, so...

I’m living on the breadline,
And I never see the sun shine.
Yes I’m living on the breadline,
But I hardly think the fault is all mine.
I need money, yeah.

If this isn't fiction, I empathize with you, man. Been there myself, deserted by a job and a wife and left with two kids to support and nurture. See a social worker and a health care provider at a clinic to point you to the available assistance programs. Hang in there.
