The Lyrics

Now that Bush has succeeded in invading Iraq- or rather, getting our troops neck deep in sh*t while they try to OCCUPY Iraq, his lies are starting to come undone. Hmmm..."We must fight Osama Bin Laden...I mean Saddam hussein, and get the Iraqi Oil- I mean Freedom!" Don't get me wrong. I'm behind our troops 150%, and I admire them and the courage they have for going over there and fighting. My question is: WHY are they fighting? For what? Iraqi Freedom? Saddam is out. But, now that they're fighting in this 'war,' there's no way for us to pull them out of it and save face in the eyes of the world. So, as we watch Bush give his smug little speeches on TV about how we'll stay until the job is done...families are steadily getting calls that their loved ones aren't coming home...
Dubya, Dubya
We grow weary of your lying
Dubya, Dubya, Dubya
There's far too many soldiers dying
And now we've got to find a way
To bring our soldiers home today

Dubya, Dubya
We've heard you pontificate
You see, war was not the answer
No matter what's in your debate
And now we've got to find a way
To bring our soldiers home today

Soldiers die (Dubya) Families cry (Dubya)
For Iraqi (Dubya) Prof'tability (Dubya)
And you think we (Dubya) don't really see (Dubya)
What's going on, (what's going on) what's going on, (what's going on)
What's going on, (what's going on) what's going on, (what's going on)

Dubya, Dubya
Everybody thinks you were wrong
No one blames the soldiers
Simply 'cos you sent them on
You know we've got to find a way
To bring our soldiers home today

Soldiers die (Dubya) Families cry (Dubya)
For Iraqi (Dubya) Prof'tability (Dubya)
And you think we (Dubya) don't really see (Dubya)
What's going on, (what's going on)
What's going on, (what's going on)
Dubya, what's going on?
We can see what's going on

Dedicated to the memory of 19 year old Marine Pfc. Christopher Cobb, a Bradenton, Florida native, and a recent casualty of this ongoing conflict in Iraq.

Syncronos - good job - an appropriate original song selection for this commentary, too, since that one also asked the big questions of the day about the nation's serious problems.

Simply beautiful... I bet Marvin Gaye would do a version of "What's going on?" like this, if he was still alive.
Michael Pacholek - April 18, 2004 - Report this comment
If he did, Macphisto, he wouldn't be still alive for long. At the least, his next composition would be "Guantanamo Blues."
