I'd never heard of this song until two days ago, when I read a parody of it, and it seemed so eminently parodiable that I had to download it. I have to say, I got kind of stuck after the chorus, and so the rest of it isn't particularly brilliant, but I decided to post it anyway. If it wasn't immediately obvious, this is about how annoying it is to not have DSL. I do, but one of my friends doesn't, and he's always complaining.

Any song that slams Pac Bell gets fives from me, Nem. As you may have heard, we disapprove of in-crowd parodies. However since we CAN play, I would certainly consider this for another MUSICAL tribute. So stop griping that no one likes you. Quantity isn't everything. And you have to be a bit obsessed to wind up at my end of the list, which has it's own downside.
Nice one, Nem. Rings well in my head, especially so recently after my "modem connection" one.
N -- you and I belong to a very exclusive club -- no one else on this site has parodied this song. The original lyrics are so dumb! I enjoyed this one (especially working in the "highway" lyric) and, like Rick, love Pac Bell bashing!
I recently changed from 56.6 to DSL, neminem. This parody has a lot of meaning for me!

(123) This is the very model of a modem Data General. I like this. As you probably know i write a lot of geek parodies. It's nice to read a well written geek parody like this. Well done. 555 BPS. Actually the old standard for BPS was 556 but since this is about slow modems I knocked off 1 BPS.

Clever concept, but I would have liked it better if the chorus was more creative and varied.
