The Lyrics

Yesterday a frog came out for dinner
Caught a dragonfly upon its tongue
Cheerful when it's fatter and not thinner
An earful when its mating song is sung

Then the frog moved ten times round the seasons
Hopping over swamps and waterfalls
Birds like bullfrogs older and well-seasoned
But snapping turtles love them most of all

And the bullfrogs
They croak on and on
And the tadpoles' tiny fish-gills are gone
They're captive on a carousel of slime
They try to swim, but their goose is cooked
They're destined to be game
And be slyly hunted down
By the turtle's brain

Sixteen springs and sixteen summers gone now
Tadpoles turn to bullfrogs green and brown
And the turtles
Take their time, it won't be long now
Till they grab frog feet and gulp them croakers down

And the bullfrogs
They croak on and on
And the tadpoles' tiny fish-gills are gone
They're captive on a carousel of slime
They try to swim, but their goose is cooked
They're destined to be game
And be slyly hunted down
By the turtle's brain

So the years spun by and now the swamp is empty
'Cause the stream is lost that once was flowing through
There'll be condos, where there once was wetland plenty
Farewell to both the frogs and turtles too

And the bullfrogs
They croak on and on
And the tadpoles' tiny fish-gills are gone
They're captive on a carousel of slime
They try to swim, but their goose is cooked
They're destined to be game
And be slyly hunted down
By the turtle's brain

Johnny D - I see you've circled around to Joni Mitchell here. Exceptionally well written parody. Aligns very well in all respects to the original. 5's

Funny, then poignant. And the bulldozers roll on and on, and the teeny tadpoles' wetlands are gone, The suburbs keep expanding it's a crime, We can't return to the olden days, But fight to keep green space, And go pound and pound and pound on the Bushies' face-------Kudos, JD.
