Last week, LittleCupCakes suggested I do this about the "Iditarod"..an annual dogsled team race across Alaska...so, here it is, LCC (It started on Saturday, March 1'st...winning time last year was 8 days, 22 hours...so, someone should have won it over the weekend)

The teams start in Willow...every year, first week of March
They cross frigid country..where wild wolves howl and arch

To those white Nome mountains,..and it's called the Iditarod
It's Alaska's great tradition,..that began in "Seven-Three"
Fifty teams, a thousand huskies run,..every team has a wish to be
Arrivin' first with the fastest time,..when the long gruelin' trek is done
Gotta' make it in less than nine days...for a chance to have it won

The ~Iditarod~ will end late Mar 10 or early 11. Lance MacKey(37 yrs) is in the lead, with Jeff King(51yrs) in second. MacKey has won the 25th annual ~YUKON Quest ~ Fairbanks to WhiteHorse, Yukon in February, of which he is a 4-time champion! He is also a cancer survivor!
