I watched the hit TV show, "Survivor", just once. I was appalled at how cruel these people were to the ones that were being kicked off the island.

Don't know the original, but I admire your conviction...I used to watch the show...but drifted away...I guess it's the perfect example of the law of the jungle.. the need for greed..

nice work Rick - Survivor is actually the only show I've never missed an episode of - it's given me insight into poltics - and you're right, they can be treacherous and traitorous, just like politicians - 555
Dontcha ever wonder if Survivor is all rigged and planned and fully-scripted and every contestant has signed a draconian NDA binding for life?
It is certainly manipulated - there are female-favouring challenges (ie, mental dexterity, multi-tasking, and tests of observational recall) and there are male-favouring ones with the physical stuff, and the producers try to influence the outcome by choosing which and when to use them - there are also some dodgy "twists" they introduce that cynically produce a result that adds to or mucks up an alliance - but beyond that, the reactions of the players to critical developments are definitely real, so no scripting and I know you were just being facetious Johnny D, but I feel compelled to defend the show from this oft-made accusation. Apart from a couple of try-out viewings, I don't watch any other reality show, as there's no truth or psycho-social aspect to them
