Song Parodies -> "Litter Green"

Original Song Title:

"Bitter Green"

Original Performer:

Gordon Lightfoot

Parody Song Title:

"Litter Green"

Parody Written by:

Paul Robinson

The Lyrics

I had thought of trying "Bitter Green" for a while now. Merry & Pippin's superb "Turning Siamese" turned my attention back to it.
Upon the Litter Green she hopped;
her cat box for a dump.
Landing with her footpads
right on a dried-up clump.
Glaring 'cause the bastard
did not her cat box clean.
Staring at him mean.

Litter Green, they called it,
full of reeking turd,
pissed off at the nerd, he forgot.
Litter Green, they called it,
stinking in the sun,
waiting for the bum to change her box.

She thought he was an idiot,
he rationed out her food.
Perhaps he was a moron,
he was one stupid dude.
Never cleaned the cat box,
which was where she must piss,
she felt rather dissed.

Litter Green, they called it,
reeking in the sun,
it was not much fun to squat in it.
Litter Green, they called it,
stinking in the sun,
waiting for that scum to clean her box.

(Instrumental Interlude)

But now the Litter Green's all gone,
the bag is empty now.
Where is that thoughtless bastard,
I'm gonna have a cow.
Aiming for the cat box,
she let loose with her piss,
purposely, she missed.

Litter Green, they called it,
full of reeking turds,
wished she could speak words to the bum.
Really mean, she called it,
failed to clean her tray,
someday he would pay,
she had been dissed.

Quite obscene, she called it,
made her squat in turds,
that was for the birds for your pet.
Quite unclean, dried-up shit,
overflowed the tray,
she would make him pay,
when next she pissed.

Paul, you're right, I was drawn toyour song by the title but did not know the song. I even looked at the two GL albums I have (!) But don't have it. But if its any consolation, the words are funny. We must have the same cat! OK, time to scoop...

We have two of those lazy crap-makers. I don't know this song, but your version made me laugh.

Right on, Paul! Have you ever heard of Feline Pine? It's an all-natural kitty litter, which we would use if our cats didn't like to eat it! Hmmm... maybe there's a parody in there somewhere...

Paul -- glad to see that you're back, at least on the message board!

wendy - thanks for the comment, don't know if "Litter Green" is still on the market, I thought of the idea for this way back in the 1970's when it was but never wrote the full parody until I started posting here after Nov., 2003. Yes, the "CatCrapper Box" is the BIG stinking drawback to kitties. I really like cats, I really dislike reeking cat-boxes and cleaning them ain't a whole lot of fun, either.

Thanks for the tip on this one, Paul, well crafted. And funny! Surprised you didn't get more reads/votes, thought it deserved more. 5 scoops across!

Rod, Thanks! I think the reason for the vote count is that a lot of folks just didn't know Gordo's original tune. It is from the sixties and that's a wee way's back in time. I had the opening line for this way before I ever considered writing parodies - Back around 1971 I got home from a couple days away (I hadn't planned on being away that long, car trouble - money trouble a fair distance from home). The cat had a number of documentable serious complaints about the accomodations. Even after correcting the situation for the next week or two every time she hopped into the cat box she would turn and glare at me. I was listening to the album this was on one of those times and it came to me. When I started writing parodies here it came to my mind again and I sat down to see if I could flesh the whole "tail" out.
