The Lyrics

The never-used lyrics of "Star Trek", the theme song of the original Star Trek television series from the 1960's, are by the original Star Trek creator, Gene Roddenberry. Here is a website that documents this bit of TV trivia: ..... http://home.att.net/~tvthemelyrics/star-trek.htm
Beyond
The brim of my Bud Light

Frat boys
Are
Blundering in bar-fight

I know
They'll fight in bar-clustered streets, yes...

Drunk
They're drunk from bar-woman's treats, yes...

I know
Their bender ends never

Their
Bar Trek
Will go on forever

But tell
Them while they fall off their barstools, please,

Remember -

Don't
Puke
On
Me
Here are the original "Star Trek" lyrics: ..... Beyond the rim of the star-light / My love is wandering in star-flight / I know he'll find in star-clustered reaches / Love, strange love a star-woman teaches / I know his journey ends never / His star trek will go on forever / But tell him while he wanders his starry sea / Remember, remember me.

The only reason there are lyrics in the first place is because Roddenberry got royalties from the sheet music sales with lyrics. He bad songwriter, but he no dummy.

Thanks Rick .... Your info about Gene Roddenberry is something I didn't know until I read your comment - wow, now it seems obvious! You're right - GR was a sharp-witted show-biz dude.

I didn't read the top properly, and started singing this through to the theme tune of Star /Wars/...and you know, it nearly works :-)

..some friends of mine went to a ST-themed party: they had some tops made up with "Bar Trek III - The Search for Alcohol", and names on the back: Dr McCoitus being the only one I remember

Sorry, as much as I should, I DKTOS, but I will say it's a good idea and good parody.
