The Lyrics

How can we hope to make you understand,
Ann Coulter? Rush Limbaugh?
Why we must back a somewhat mod’rate man
Far from the Far Right crowd?

We were content to call them hypocrites:
Liberals. Moderates.
Whoever thought that we’d be eating…crow
Far from the Far Right crowd?

Who could see that a man would come
Who would change the shape of our base?
Helpless, you must hide distain
As we’re naming John McCain.

Is this a stomach-churning choice for you,
O’Reilly? Hannity?
We must unite against the Black and Shrew—
Must beat the Leftist crowd.

Toward the convention, settled long ago,
We must go. We must go.
Destiny drags us kicking, screaming, so
Far from the Far Right crowd.

Yet—we’d keep the White House…ours.

Yeah, the mightyrighties must be going bonkers right now figuring out how to live with McCain, who until recently they called evil or (horrors!) a liberal.
