The Lyrics

My sister is several years younger than I am, but she's only a class or two from finishing her Ed. D. degree through Liberty University. I have to applaud her for having so much gumption and grit to get where she is and I'm mighty proud of her. I wrote this parody as a tribute (!) to all she endures, going through the Appalachian mountains to get to Lynchburg, VA!
My sister goes, to Liberty Mountain, ‘cos she’s working, on a degree
And while she’s there, on Liberty Mountain, she works hard, from A to Z!

She takes her trip (she takes her trip), but it costs money,
And how she gets it, I know not where!

The teachers wait on Liberty Mountan, and they’re anxious that she gets there.

Her greatest dream, from Liberty Mountain, is completing her Ed D.
And she’ll be glad, on Liberty Mountain, to finally get a term’nal degree!

She takes her trip (she takes her trip), but it costs money,
And how she gets it, I know not where!

The teachers wait on Liberty Mountan, and they’re anxious that she gets there.

She needs to go, to Liberty Mountain, just a few more, times, they say
But when she’s done, at Liberty Mountain, it will be a happy day!

She takes her trip (she takes her trip), but it costs money,
And how she gets it, I know not where!

The teachers wait on Liberty Mountan, and they’re anxious that she gets there.

But she don’t care about the travel
She’s gonna drive right through those mountains
All the blacktop and the gravel
And the parking lots they ramble
She’s gonna get to Liberty Mountain
And drive right on through those mountains
(fade out)

Very nice. I don’t really know the original song, but can follow the meter quite well in your parody. We both have very hard-working siblings. Now I’m thinking of doing the same thing for mine. Good job Jonathan.

If she's several years younger than you, Jonathan, then she would be in her earlier twenties ... so getting a doctorate at such a young age would be a remarkable achievement. Is she a prodigy of some sort?

Hi CML. thank you for your very nice estimates of our ages! I won't give our exact ages but here's an approximation: her children are in their mid- to late 20's! Mine are all in their 30's! And yes, she was and is a lot better student than I ever have been. After all, this gives her a chance to outshine her big brother!

Was assuming you were the other Jonathan. He told me he was born in '92; which would have meant his sister would have been earning a Ed. around the age of 22, which didn't make much sense. I have two kids in the age range of your nieces and nephews. One is about to hit the "big three oh."
