| Parody Song Title: | "The Hampsters Are Rollin' In Their Pen" |
| Parody Written by: | David Chrenko |
I've entertained the title for quite a long time before finally building a parody around it. Hope it's seaworthy. Enjoy!
Down on the farm - Our red shingled barn,
Holds horses, and cattle and hams.
Yes, and out in the back forty, high on a hill,
A flock of sheep dots the land.
Yes, and now that my daily chores are all behind,
I fish with a pole in my hand.
And perched on the sand, where river rounds the bend,
The hampsters are rollin' in their pen.
Casting my line, and by chance look up,
To see rain clouds fill the sky.
Yes, I gather my gear, and run back home,
Before it rains, by and by.
Yes, I watch as the storm races fast 'cross the corn.
That water is rising so high.
The river, my friend, is brimming at the sand.
The hampsters are swimming in their pen.
How many years can a farmer go on,
While nature shall ravage his wheat?
Yes, there's mighty tornados that chase you along,
There's dust storms, and weevils and heat.
Yes, and me 'n' my wife, at the window just smile,
While flood waters rush o'er our land.
We both wave our hands - they're comin' by again.
The hampsters come floatin' by again.

What whacked-out dream inspired you? Come gather you hamsters wherever you roam, and check out this one!
Thanks All. Mari, I don't know where these ideas come from. I just assume somehow I'm recalling a true event that was buried in my subconscious. What I like are the Dylan references in the comments. I particularly liked this line from "Times They Are A-Changin' ": "Hampsters better start swimming, or they'll sink like a stone."
Very surreal!
I'm a farmer . . . . .
Mr. Chrenko, I distinctly heard that hamster over there remind you to take your medication. Here's 555 mg of something good.
These comments are interesting to say the least. All this parody's about is, a flash flood hits a farm and carries off a hampster pen. Why does this come off as so surreal to you all? Just curious, but I'm glad you all like it!.
Loved the ending, brilliant!
You paint such a good picture, you can almost see it. 5-5-5
Great job on the parody! I read your parody, now how bout you read mine? "Come On Over" to the Shania Twain section and "Check It Out"
The times, they are a-lemming
David - Hampsters hampered by ample dampness! All their little hampster dreams washed away. Tragic!
Good theme...good parody, David! 5's
