Song Parodies -> Ted Kennedy
| Original Song Title: | "Massachusetts" |
| Original Performer: | Bee Gees |
| Parody Song Title: | "Ted Kennedy" |
| Parody Written by: | Paul Warren |
Even though scandal did haunt Ted Kennedy, his legacy STILL lives on.
1-Robert Kennedy of Massachusetts
Now is in a heavenly home.
And the flags are half-staffed in Massachusetts
Can you feel that Kennedy is all alone?
2-Chappaquiddick may have been a scandal
But Ted Kennedy still made it through.
And the flags are half-staffed in Massachusetts
The Senate Seat will now see somebody new.
3-We saw tragedies of the Kennedys
Now Ted is with Rob, JJ, and John.
And the flags are half-staffed in Massachussets
And that is one state that Ted has lived on.
We will remember Ted Kennedy...

R.I.P.
Good one...
Nice tribute. Appropriate choice of OS as well. 5s
Would you kindly answer the question of WHY Ted made it through, when most people would have gotten 20 years in prison for the same crimes? We've been waiting a long time for the answer.
"The sins of the father are visited on the sons". Look up the truth about Papa Joe if you DK the reference. And as for Ted's legacy, yes, it still lives on, among the Kopechne family, friends, and loved ones.
As a licensed private pilot myself, JJ's multiple errors in both judgment and in flying wouldn't be made by a student pilot on his first solo, but who would flunk a Kennedy on his flight test, or anything else, for that matter?
As for the song itself, lines 2, 4, 8, and 12 are off-pace, per YouTube original:
3w.youtube.com/watch?v=Mc5oqjFsT5g,
-- 30% of the song mis-paced -- and lines 9 and 13 would stress "ned" -- kenNEDdys. Sometimes you have to do that, but at least use a hyphen Ken-ned-ys to let your readers know it was deliberate instead of sloppy. (Would prefer not to do that with someone's name, though.)
As for content: DK what line 4 is supposed to mean, when the rest of the song says that they're all together in Hell -- 'scuse me, Heaven. Line 12 is poor grammar -- one doesn't live "on" a state, one lives "in" it. Perhaps you meant "in which he (his memory) lives on", but that's not what it says. It also seems that with only 12 real lines to fill, the third line of each stanza could have been varied a bit. So disregarding all political differences, 232.
Side note to Michael Pacholek: THIS is how you critique a song properly, regardless of whether you agree or disagree with the politics. Class dismissed.
