Parody Song Title:

"Let Aunt Bee"

Parody Written by:

Claude Prez

The Lyrics

When I find myself with piles of dishes
In the sink confronting me
Andy to the rescue:
"Let Aunt Bee"

And when the floor needs mopping because
Opie couldn't hold his pee
Who cleans up the whizzin'?
Let Aunt Bee

Let Aunt Bee, let Aunt Bee
Let Aunt Bee, yeah let Aunt Bee
Who will do the laundry?
Let Aunt Bee

And when we're hosting dinner just for
Everyone in Mayberry
Don't go in the kitchen;
Let Aunt Bee

And though you hear her sobbing cause she
Dropped a meatloaf on her knee
Who will bring more pretzels?
Let Aunt Bee!

Let Aunt Bee, let Aunt Bee
Let Aunt Bee, yeah let Aunt Bee
That's why God made women
Let Aunt Bee

Let Aunt Bee, let Aunt Bee
Let Aunt Bee, yeah let Aunt Bee
Who will scrub the toilets?
Let Aunt Bee

Let Aunt Bee, let Aunt Bee
Let Aunt Bee, yeah let Aunt Bee
Bitch make me a cobbler
Let Aunt Bee

She knows that we're just joking; she is
Still our favorite employee
Who could use a smoke break?
Let Aunt Bee

You say that you don't smoke? Well get your
Butt in here and wait on me
Barney wants a backrub
Let Aunt Bee

Let Aunt Bee, let Aunt Bee
Let Aunt Bee, yeah let Aunt Bee
Gomer needs more vodka
Let Aunt Bee

Let Aunt Bee, let Aunt Bee
Let Aunt Bee, yeah let Aunt Bee
Floyd is feeling frisky
Let Aunt Bee

Hilarious Claude. Does Aunt Bee remind you of Julia Child or what?
Rick D - October 26, 2003 - Report this comment
Okay. Yours is much funnier. In my other creative life I wrote a piano piece called "The Andy Variations", where I do a classical treatment of that familiar whistle tune. Would get big laughs if only I could play it. (Fortunately, Mari can.)

I hear this all the time in my house, except "Let Aunt Bea" is "Let Mommy" and there's no melody. I find your version MUCH funnier.

"Bitch make me a cobbler" - loved it.

You should send this song to NOW. Bet they'd love it. Clever parody of a sexist rural America. But wasn't it Aint Bea?

Hey, thanks to all. And Guy, the place I checked insisted that although it was short for "Beatrice", whenever her name appeared onscreen in an episode it was spelled with two e's. Of course it was pronounced "Aint Bee" but I thought that woulda looked confusing. Thanks again to everyone.

Either way would have worked for you Claude.

Aunt Bee should use her stinger and fight back! Funny stuff - 5's via Rural Free Delivery.

Great job!

Claude, just saw this after seeing the reference in Joelle's note today. Excellent! Like the way you build up her responsibilities to the end. Probably only Opie wouldn't "Bee" able to figure where the last item was leading. "Bitch made me a cobbler"? Yeah, I guess you could call that a subtle signal that the tone of this parody was going to a different level. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Where'd you disappear to?
Come back, see?

Wow. This is a nice little surprise. I think this was the song that taught me never to submit on weekends. Thanks everyone; I've been too busy to comment but still read and vote most days. (I find if I leave any comments at all I feel obligated to leave more). Hopefully be back next week but if not it'll be after Jan 4 cause I'll be in the sunny Caribbean after Xmas HAHA. Rick--yes, let me know please, and about the monkey thing--Billy said it was my "Ziggy Stardust" period; that pretty much covers it. Some great stuff this week guys; see ya.

I don't truly laugh out loud that often, but you got a way about you. It just got funnier and funnier as I went on. Favorite line 'Bitch make me a cobbler'

2nz - Thank you for the comment - it got me to re-visit this wonderfully funny piece. Claude, I've said it a few times before, but this one is fantastic! Yeah, it's an "LOL" number, for sure...

What's better than Andy Griffith reruns? Well, lotsa things, but particularly CLAUDE PREZ RERUNS! I love this. Let the record show that it had 21 votes before the fallout. And most of 'em were even GOOD. Also, someone called "Claude Prez Fan" RECORDED this, making my sycophancy seem tame by comparison. Look for it in the recordings list.

This is FABulous, Claude. Seriously...every time I thought I had a favorite line, another one would come up. But I can relate to dropping a meatloaf on my knee...and "Bitch make me a cobbler" sent me over the edge. EXCELLENT.
paul robinson - September 21, 2018 - Report this comment
This Claude Prez oldie still leaves me in stitches. You probably need to have watched the old "Andy Griffith" show to get this one, but if you did I am fairly certain you will LOL at several of the lines.
