Original Song Title:

"Moon River"

Original Performer:

Andy Williams / Henry Mancini

Parody Song Title:

"Tune Riffer"

Parody Written by:

The Comedian

The Lyrics

Tune Riffer
Spiderman of smiles
I'm caught in your Web-guile, fun day!

Oh, scream maker, you art breaker,
Fair weather or snowing,
I'm mowing,
Norway

Glue snif-ters
Cough to sneeze the hurl
There's such a snot of hurl to sneeze

Where laughter's the aim, sane prose ends

Crazy clowning's penned

By chuckleberry friend

Tune Riffer...

...that's me.

WOW!!!! I did the same OS today, JD! Some similarities too, especially near the ending. You used "sane" I used insane. We both used hurl. 555

So, I guess you are "John The Riffer" today. "Cough to sneeze the hurl"? Wha.. is that like puking through your nose? Well, I almost spit soda on my keyboard reading that line, so your laughter aim hit a mark already. 5s.

Really liked sticking so close to OS phonetics while making it work and be funny - not an easy task. "Wider than/Spiderman, "lot of world/snot of hurl", "cough..." Ingenious and LOL. 555

Not sure I get it. Random prose? From the point of being under the weather? And what's a chuckleberry?
Johnny D - April 07, 2006 - Report this comment
Yes, Peter, it has to do with seemingly-random but well-paced & syllabically-matched prose representing spontaneously humorous parody...and a chuckleberry is a play on the original song's word huckleberry...I'm the chuckleberry in this case. Thanks.

JD, meant to tell ya, but ya been MIA so long that pea-brain forgot: Just before ya left, ya left me a comment - " T-Squared. I think you might be one of the friendly aliens from "The Lathe of Heaven"." DK the reference at the time, but looked it up a little later; replied: ..".yes, it's a pretty good resemblance", but ya were gone...
You very funny (and very perceptive) guy, JD... Stay here, f*** the Real World!

Thanks, Friendly Alien Turtle-Dude! I was busy with theatre stuff & other stuff in my life, and needed a break from this ... I'm back, but I will be reading & writing at a much slower pace than during my earlier years on AmIRight --- and I reserve the right to disappear again at any time! ;-)
