The Lyrics

No, this isn't me, but I had a good friend pass away recently who was once a tall, strong athletic guy. Just before he died his 6'2" frame was less than 100 lbs. I know this is rather melancholy, but I tried to throw in a smidgeon of humor at the end.
Rest today; I'm all hobbled and my hair is gray
Haggard look and all my nerves are frayed
Oh, where'd I leave my hearing aid?

Sucks to be less than half the man I used to be
Feel death's shadow hanging over me
"Soon will be dead", occurs to me

Sense it's time to go, yes, I know, it works that way
Once I was real strong, but that's gone; away I'll fade

I soon may, lay at rest below an earthen grave
Who will be there at my fune'ral wake?
Oh, who will grieve? It's hard to say

Now it's time to go, yes, it's so, in death I'll lay
Here I don't belong, just not strong, I'm not afraid

Out of play, like a foul ball in a baseball game
Maybe there will be a plot with shade
Will someone rake the leaves each day?
Hmm Mm mm mm mm mm mm
He was a great guy. We were best friends for almost 50 years.

I've been away for a while with an illness of my own. This is the first time I've heard about Rob Arndt. What happened and when? He made it to 4200. Went out with "I Put A Spell On You", which is somehow approprirate. I remember when we lost Tommy Turtle.

Haven't seen anything by the great Leough (Leo Keough) for a couple years, either.

Rob had serious health problems related to diabetes, I believe. All we know is that his last post was on August 10, and then he made a comment on Aug 11. And then for three weeks there was nothing from him which made you fear for the worst, knowing Rob ..... Then his brother, Roger Arndt, reveals in the announcement in late August that Rob died on Aug 13. No indication about what happened, but it must have been sudden

Sorry to hear about Rob & Tommy. Patrick, hope you are feeling better now. I had a bit of a scare in July '17, but after several tests and a biopsy the spot on my liver turned out to be non-cancerous. Feeling fine lately and a little feisty so I decided to start writing and posting again.

On a brighter note I know that Alvin Rhodes is still very much alive, kicking and still writing. He just switched over to poetry and is pretty good at it from the couple pieces i've run across.

He seems really interested in photography, judging from his Facebook page -- 200 separate photo albums, Wow! A real presence on Facebook, too with 200 followers and 2000 Facebook friends. A real counter cultural phenom ..... Nice hair, too
